Why Norway? (Road Trip 2015)

Published by Darron Toy on

couldn't we flag somebody down and get a lug wrench you think anybody would pull off and help us no I'm not kidding Mike jr. got a we're stuck on the side of the road on the interstate they just called some taxi if you would have asked us two weeks ago why Norway we would have said because the flight was only 375 dollars roundtrip an emergency taxi ride after our van blew two tires on the way to the airport was not exactly the start to the trip we were hoping for luckily we were splitting the bill nine ways here's the game we flew over together but split up into three groups once we got to Norway we picked up our rental car and started driving with no idea where we were going to sleep that night just hoping we had packed everything we needed furious campsite number one now none of us have ever really been camping for real hopefully everything we needs in those suitcases well we weren't so successful building a fire everything was really wet but we did bring candles don't want to call it too early but Cheers we spoke too soon we're in Norway camping we are in Norway camping it's great it's definitely cold it's not that bad like in our sleeping bags no I tossed and turned until about 2:00 and then after two I fell asleep and I was basically swearing off camping until four hours is a long time to toss it bird I just want to know what the temperature is now I don't want to go colder than that we may or may not be cabin people we don't know it's right now one degree Celsius okay so maybe tent camping wasn't for us but we still like the idea of being outdoors cooking our own meals and waking up to beautiful landscapes luckily we discovered that Norway has campsites with small cheap cabins literally everywhere to give you an idea there are 1600 gas stations in Norway and 1,100 registered campsites most of those have heat and a hot plate but no running water so we still got to experience a little bit of the outdoors each night all right so this is what you get for 400 Crona or about $40 just two bunk beds pull out a hot plate and a refrigerator by day two we'd found our groove dry for a couple hours pick our favorite campsite go explore drive for a couple hours pick our favorite campsite go explore you you this particular day we hiked up the side of a fuer for a picnic there was one stop that we planned stateside and it was possibly the most important stop of the trip the traditional Norwegian sweater outlet Factory once we had our traditional Norwegian attire we could continue exploring the countryside with confidence the further north we drove the more picturesque the landscapes became take over nope nope there are two things we will remember forever from this trip the glacier hike and the Northern Lights we made a video about our glacier hike if you didn't see it click here to increase our chances of seen the Northern Lights we had to fly above the Arctic Circle which was even more beautiful and diverse than we imagined we went from driving through mountain top clouds to what looked like tropical beaches each day ended with a beautiful sunset and then the main event setting up sleeping bags watch the Northern Lights time lapse rate and boy was it a show it's not easy to describe how so real it was it was like they were there just for us they moved so fast it was visible these time lapses are photographed over minutes not hours if we were to answer the question why Norway now it seems obvious for the adventure for the landscape for the hiking for the camping and of course the friends

Hey People, I recently made my own first travel film from my Norway roadtrip. It would be awesome, if you could check it out and give me some feedback. Cheers!

One question and one quick piece of advice:
What was the soundtrack for this video/where did you find it?
Never put a tarp under your tent… If you feel you must, make sure the tarp doesn't stick out from under your tent at all. A tent footprint is only there to protect the bottom of the tent from sharp objects. A tarp sticking out will turn your tent into a swimming pool. 🙂

as a northern Norwegian I recommend all of those that want to travel to Norway to travel to Lofoten in Nordland, Norway. it's by far the most beautiful place in Norway I can guarantee you that

Ethan Schenck · July 29, 2019 at 2:49 pm

I was there exactly one year ago visiting family in Stavanger. We only saw the county of Rogaland, but it was still some of the most wonderful traveling I've ever done. I want to see it again so badly.
