Himanshi …Thank you!!..
Why? for getting me on this trip
Awww… we started towards Mysuru early in the morning soon we saw a board that said, Welcome to Ramnagar – the silk city and we were wondering why Ramnagar is called the silk city! we happened to stop for yelaneru or tender coconut water Why do they call it as silk city? They grow lot of silkworms, so its called the silk city and then we later realized that it has the biggest silk market in the entire continent so, this is Asia's largest cocoon market!!. So, these people offered to show us what exactly these cocoons are and one of them cut it open and showed it to us. She could not stop wondering what this is and taking it in her hand and feeling it, playing with it I really wish i could get myself some cocoons from here. why, you wanna start weaving some silk sarees now? So now we were curious to know, how the silk threads are extracted out of the cocoon. so we were lucky enough to find a silk factory nearby, and when we went there we saw the cocoons are put into boiling water and they pull out threads from that. So the Ramdevabetta, is a must visit to anybody going to Ramanagar Uncle, how far?
– 400 steps Whoa!!Dont expect me to climb that!. Common, we have come so far..Noo.. 300 more to go.. your ideas are always terrible!.. Uh.. Noo.. Come Himanshi!.. Come with me Do you have any idea where we are?
– at a beautiful view point.. Singing… you remember?
– this is the Sholay shooting place!!.. Oh my god!!.. This is the place where Sholay was shot! And it was different experience altogether when we realised that we were standing on the same spot where this iconic bollywood movie was shot. we were super charged with the discovery of the sholay place and we continued our climb and reached the temple. you know what.. this isn't just another temple. So Rama Sita and Lakshmana spent some time here during 14 years of exilem. This temple was around 1000yrs old and I was so amused when i saw a pond on top of the hill. This place is when lord Rama came for vanvas and sita dint get water, he threw an arrow and he got water and no one has any idea how deep it is!!. and there is water all seasons So, summer, winter anytime?..
-yes, anytime there is water. After this, obviously 400 steps made me very very hungry and we stopped at 1959 for breakfast. Prish, order something. I'll just go to the washroom and come For how many people have you ordered all of this!!?? So whose gonna eat all of this now? After having breakfast, we thought we could not miss exploring the land of toys – Channapatna. It is very simple to go to any shop in Channapatna and buy toys. but we wanted see for ourselves, how these toys are actually made and then this lady offered to teach me how to make a wood into a proper carving it took a long long while and she wouldn't let me go without finishing it. You know these are so nice because these are mostly organic. You remember when we used to go to our grandmom's place, it used to be heaven for us. and now I cant believe we made it ourselves. I have seen grape stomping on TV's and lot of movies and I always wanted to do that. and knowing this could happen near Channapatna made us zoom to heritage winery. These wine grapes are shorter, rounder. They contain seed into it. and the skin of these grapes are quiet thick so you cant chew it easily. it was so exciting! We had so much fun, we danced, we played, we slipped I think, we did a pretty good job of crushing the grapes to pulp. After murdering and mass killing of the grapes we headed to Right O ,and this place had so much variety. There was so much variety to choose from,I just could not decide on one. The wine stomping made us very tired, this much food is necessary so while having food , we realized that we missed kokrebellur 25km behind of us and this was the village that i definitely wanted to explore. So we just decided to head back Kokrebellur is just a village and not a wild life sanctuary or a bird sanctuary or anything like that So we really did not have tickets to enter there. So many birds man – so many sounds!! After this we headed straight to our hotel, Mayura River View in Srirangapatna It was a very eventful start filled with a lots of discoveries. It has just been 1 day and we have'nt even reached mysore yet. wait wait wait. dont cut but this was just the Beginning.
