Traveler's Notebook Flip Through – Washington DC

Published by Darron Toy on

hello guys this is April today I'm going to share with you my Traverse notebook the account of my trip to Washington DC just last week this is my setup today I met up with a few good friends at a cafe and we proceeded to work from each of our own hobo Nietzsche or Travers notebook and to her this is the notebook that I'm using for my Washington DC collection it's called keep a notebook or kam for short and it's the same size as a regular Traverse notebook insert and it's made by Thomas edge you can find him on Instagram he has such amazing photos off his traveler's notebook and as part of me walk was inspired him to create this collection of in starts called ka and keep a notebook but this is the signature the Zion logo of this thing I'm just gonna give you a closer look of a foot through of my journey it's a really short trip it's just four days three nights but I had such a wonderful time in Washington DC and here you can see some of my tools I use the scissor from close to lift by some washi tape samples my beloved empties and washi tapes collection to make borders I use these pigment ink pen to draw they're waterproof so if I wanted to paint over it it would not smudge I use the pilot para I use the pilot para fountain pen to do most of my writing and also my uni style pen as well these are my favorite tools to write with all right let me take you through the flip it's the first patient this is something that I'm still working on on this side but this is my Washington DC trip same one I used a stamp from Traverse factory to mark the date and I decided to give this whole series of pug theme because I feel that the color this black and white color of the the pug kind of reminds me or it's really similar to the cover of thing that I found in Washington DC all the marble buildings the grandeur the majestic building I don't know if you feel the same but that's that's my theme so I printed out these photos with Canon Selphy it's a really nice tool a portable printer you can call it that way and I print them out as collages of 4×6 and then I'll cut them cut them out into these tiny pictures to stick on I use + nori no adhesive tape roller to stick all of my photos onto my choppers notebook this is day one I visited the building Museum of my first day and then also the postal museum which I greatly recommend you must go there it's free and it's full of stamps postcards and all the things that has to do with mailing and allow letters the information there is just so good they even give you free stamps you can take six unique stems from their collection with you then you can also design your own snap then I went to visit my friend who works at WWF and we visit the Panda headquarters then we had Tyson and this type is so much I grew up in Bangkok and it's so hard to find authentic Thai food here but this place SOI 38 it's really good this is the second day we have breakfast or brunch at Ted's bulletin he has must gather their chicken and biscuit this to die for as well as their milkshake I had this morning shake but I heard those boozy elements is also really good as well it's right by Eastern Market and that I think there's another branch on 14th Street definitely check it out this cute dog comes down at Eastern Market he's a Chinese mix with golden retriever and is such a gentle giant I love him so much I asked the owner if I could take a photo of him and when you visit Eastern Market be sure to take a look at all those surrounding row houses they are so colorful so cute I can't stop taking photos after exploring Eastern Market we also went to the Library of Congress I would recommend taking their tour because they give a really comprehensive introduction to many of their architectural design and it's generally a really nice place to go if you have time definitely go to the Library of Congress we also walked from it was a lot of walking that day we walked from the Library of Congress all the way to the Washington Monument and then beyond that to Lincoln Memorial Hall these aren't cherry blossom washi tape that I got from my friend she bought it off a Nazi account which I don't remember right now which sells a leash samples and it's from Hong Kong I guess that's the only tip I could give you it's too bad I missed a cherry blossoms I would love to see them we admired the sunset at Lincoln Memorial at the Lincoln Memorial we watched a sunset at the back of the Memorial and I also sketch a quick painting of the sunset as well you can find that on mine Instagram feed and penguins creative there were a lot of people that day but we stayed from sunset until nightfall so we can see the beautiful right onto the majestic building for dinner we have beef and bread you should totally go try that they have the best roast beef burgers in Washington DC I don't know why I would say it's the best it's probably the only one I've had but it's really really good it's really open and not that expensive so on the third day I would love to explore my own and I spent the whole morning reading and drinking a cup of coffee and have this awesome croissant at the Caprice PC and then I visited the National Air and Space Museum what a great place I love it so much all the planes we I have no words it's just a beautiful place you have to go although the cue to get in because of security is so long and it slowly wears your well I feel like a like a kid in the candy store then there there's just so much to see so much for those you can take of those beautiful planes definitely go there and then this afternoon we went to Georgetown and we had great gelato we walked along the smaller streets and then ended up at Georgetown University and we walked back along the canal the cno's now and it's there that I drew another sketch which can you can also find on my Instagram feed penguins creative I wanted to find a usk meet-up in DC but I couldn't find any Facebook group so I have to sketch on my own it's the last day it's a really short trip as you can tell I visited the National Gallery of Art such a beautiful place the paintings of Monet is just breathtaking and finally I end up at Union Station to take my bus home to Boston and before that I had pastor donut and fried chicken I would say the donuts are okay but the fresh ricotta you must try another quick I started these layouts with layering washes first kind of having a color theme for each page and then I would stick the photos and then write my comments or my short diary entries by by the pictures and then lastly I would decorated with the tiny stickers to create a layering effect but this is my quick flip through of my Washington DC drivers notebook trip hope you like it I will aspire to do more in the future and thanks for watching have a great day

Love it! I’m at the north end of the orange line and HIGHLY recommend the roast beef sandwich at Kelly’s. The original location is in Revere, but you’ll also find them in Medford (at Wellington), Saugus and Danvers. YUM! xo
