Thai Offers Money to an Indian Tourist : See Why!
its 9:05 am, 28th January 2017 This is the same Police Station where I stayed a few days back I am in Tak and from here I am going back to Bangkok Bangkok is 420 Kilometres away from Tak I have a late night flight from Bangkok I am ready to start I am going to show this to ask for lifts I am leaving Tak Highway Police Station This is the last day of my Thailand trip Thanks to everyone from the Highway Police Station Why is that ‘gentleman’ calling me? He was trying to force me This is the part of travelling You get to meet different kinds of people I’ve bought these chocolate bars. They have nuts inside I am going to have this in my Lunch In emergencies, you can have these chocolates to maintain your energy level I’ve got a discounted price 40 Baht, otherwise, these have cost me 50 Baht These kind ladies are writing the name of places in Thai for me They are writing NAKHON SAWAN Its 10 am This family has given me lift in their car They saw NAKHON SAWAN written on my board from a distance They came to me to ask what do I need! It took some time to explain everything, but eventually they agreed to help I am so thankful to the lady sitting behind me She was sitting on this seat and now for me, she went behind in the small seat They are their Children And the gentleman is the head of the family They are talking with each other in Thai. I am not able to understand They are probably going to CHAI NAT, which is ahead of NAKHON SAWAN With help of Google Translate, I asked them to take me to CHAI NAT They replied, Yes The gesture which touched me deeply was the lady vacated her seat for me She could’ve asked me to sit at the back, but she didn’t I am again thankful to all of you 🙂 Let me give you another Tip for Hitchhiking As I have already told you that Petrol stations are the best place to ask for a lift The exit lanes of the fuel stations are the best place Fuel stations are called Gasoline stations or Gasoline pump in Thailand In Thai language, they are called PAM NAMAN Use Google Translate to know more on this In India, there are many petroleum companies like Hindustan Petroleum, Bharat Petroleum, Indian Oil Likewise, here are also many companies But PTT company has lot of large stations with multiple facilities There is a PTT Station You can get convineance stores like ‘7 ELEVEN’ at its petrol stations I think this is the reason I found most of its outlets get a very good response I would recommend PTT stations to Hitchhikers This is another petroleum company called CALTEX But it is almost deserted, so not recommended for hitchhiking There is another Gasoline station of PTT Start hitchhiking from here because most of the vehicles use this station and hence you get more options Thats the PTT Station, also mentioned 7 ELEVEN beneath Always stand in the exit lane beside the 7 ELEVEN Stores You can also use their toilets for free, which are most of the time very neat and clean There are some other stores here, like CAFE AMAZON Now its time to get down. I have reached somewhere near CHAI NAT This family helped to reach from Tak to this place Thanks 🙂 This was the best ever hitchhiking experience I had in Thailand That is the place where the kind lady was sitting for so long. What a wonderful family it was! I gifted one of the SNICKERS chocolates to the children I also gifted them something which I had brought from India I am feeling so good Now I have again got a new board, mentioning Bangkok and now I am going to show this board to everyone to ask for lift Stand here in the exit lane, under a shade People come from that lane, Get a refill and exit from here Keep asking them like this, You’ll get some help They again came back to offer some money But I politely refused Ofcourse, I don’t need money There are some young people sitting over there and talking about me looking inquisitively at me People generally are inquisitive to see Hitchhikers I’ve been asked “What happened”, “Where are you from” “What do you need”.. blah blah So a hitchhiker has to be ‘Cool’ … Shouldn’t hesitate in asking for help Finally off to Bangkok
