My friend used to work at a fast food restaurant. Almost every day before closing, he were told to throw foods that had not reach their customers. He said it was lots of them. So he ate some of them and when his stomach became full, he had to throw it away. Food waste is a problem meanwhile there are people with food shortage.

My goal in life is to make sure everyone has food.
This is eye-opening

kimberly miller · July 28, 2019 at 9:40 am

Thanks for the info, but how can we help them?

Astral Dragon · July 28, 2019 at 9:40 am

Guess it's no so smart to allow spoiled whiny rich millionaires/billionaires to exist while working class people are being pushed into poverty.

there's gonna be a lot of dead rich people when the poor wipe out the upper class/capitalism.

It is so sad. There should be better waus out for the situations. Food should be safe. Don't throw the food that are not sold from the rest to the garbage. Put them in clean container n deliver them to the needy.

Please be careful with food safety.

Isabella · July 28, 2019 at 9:40 am

How can we help?

Rizky Abdurachim · July 28, 2019 at 9:40 am

4-6 dollars can get you a very decent meal 3 times a day in Jakarta, Indonesia. I know some poor people here that makes way less than that per day and can still afford to buy actual food. This makes me wonder how expensive metro Manila is.

RedLuckOG · July 28, 2019 at 9:40 am

I feel horrible for the people living like this, especially the children.

anon · July 28, 2019 at 9:40 am

I was reading comments hoping for optimistic replies / ways of solving the problem but all I see is them blaming these poor people for being 'lazy' and not getting a job. Some are even laughing bc apparently the Philippines is much more than their country. …

Disappointing. Disgusting.

Paul Ross · July 28, 2019 at 9:40 am

Dang 😞

Stephanie Lim · July 28, 2019 at 9:40 am

And some foreigners insults our people by saying that our people eat pagpag. They should be grateful that they have a rich economy, though they may have all this privilege they still wail about their shallow problems not knowing that other nations have the worst situation than they have. I pity them.

Christine Naysh Suarez · July 28, 2019 at 9:40 am

To clarify any misunderstandings, the making of this pagpag is found only near the biggest landsite of the country which is located in the northern region of the country, Philippines. It is not found anywhere else within poor family homes. Dont say that all poor Filipinos eat pagpag, entiendes?

When you hear a child say when I grow up I want to be a domestic helper…that literally breaks my heart.

Akeera Kil · July 28, 2019 at 9:40 am

A domestic helper like me that was living like them (in the video) sometimes think life is really unfair. My boss and his family is just tossing money from the kitchen to the valcony like it is nothing. I felt envious sometimes. we are struggling to survive each day and yet it is not enough. It's really depressing.

Chris James Wong · July 28, 2019 at 9:40 am

This made me cry. I'm sorry that ASEAN cannot do enough to help you out of your situation. We in Malaysia pray for you always. When the opportunity comes for you to hit an economy boom like Malaysia and Vietnam, please grab it. The greatest determining factor to save yourselves from poverty is your attitude towards life. Build a strong domestic economy (tourism, agricuture, textiles, green products) and your neighboring countries will invest in you.

Why didn't Americans help the Philippines change all this?

I hope I could put up a small charity that collects clean left over food from restaurants and deliver them to the slum areas..
