some of the best scenes in his movies are awkward dancing scenes which are used in his first 3 movies this one, stranger than paradise and down by law. I don't think it's really odd or off putting. Everybody (in the 3 movies) dances to express themselves not so much to look cool while doing it. I think the idea is that not caring and just doing it is cool within it's own right. self expression

The only good scene from this film. Fantastic song (Bostic's full solo is not to be believed)… inspiration to any amateur filmmaker- not all great filmmakers hit a home run the first time. See Todd Solondz's Fear, Anxiety & Depression for more inspiration.

I highly HIGHLY reccomend everyone look up the documentary "Blank City" on Netflix. It's all about the late 70s no-wave scene in NYC. It's a surprisingly well made documentary and has interviews with damn near everyone associated with the scene.
It made me highly jealous of the kids who were lucky enough to be born in a right place and right time such as that….
btw…in Permanent Vacation, Jean Michelle Basquiat is off-camera in many shots sleeping. He was entirely unknown at that time.

@willowleuty What did your father become after that movie? His performance was fabulous, full of grace… (this is really my favorite movie)
Did he stop acting?

KW7T5HI · May 15, 2019 at 3:30 pm

he "can't dance!"… shame on you who can't recognize grace!

Amir3793 · May 15, 2019 at 3:30 pm
