One Day In The Real Mexico (Beyond The Tourist Zone)

Published by Darron Toy on

thanks a lot man appreciate it I'll give you a good extra tip in the app there so thanks man have a good one a total Nico a little village of like 600 people just going to poke around here and check things out see a little different side of Mexico in the small town and you look like a tourist town to the town of Dolores Hidalgo which is north of here but somebody had recommended this to me yesterday I came from San Miguel in the uber here it's just like a 15 minute ride away from san miguel de allende to a total Milko yeah so I guess this is the main church just going to kind of poke my head in here I have this you know behold backpack of us no wow it's really cool I think this is like the main street like okay that was down but we'll uh poke around a bit more see what else there is around here and so I thought that I would kind of address the title one day in the real Mexico now of course anywhere you are in Mexico is the real Mexico of course there's different sights to it there's the big city there is the skyscrapers there is the beach resorts there is the mountains there's the slums there's the little villages and the typical towns but but when I say one day in the real Mexico that I'm just kind of referring to not being a tourist town somewhere where you see the more regular Mexican life without the emphasis on tourists and catering to tourists and adjusting your business to be more appealing to tourists and stuff like that and a real window into a different side of the country than what you see when you go to the packaged tourist you know all-inclusive resorts and the beach towns and stuff like that so just kind of a little taste of one of the many sides of Mexico and it feels like basically I'm walking out of town at this point so that might be like basically the town tour me casa es su casa my house is your house one extra one of my faves all right walk back down olá head back this way and see if there's some more streets I can explore not a whole lot going on down this way but you can see the sign for dolores hidalgo that is where I'm going next and it is only like maybe 20 miles north of here and then also San Miguel de IND where I came from and so this goes out to a road that then is the main highway because they are actually opposite directions miguel de allende is south dolores it also is north I think it's time for a drink see what we can find tortas hamburguesa quesadillas jiajia's flatus huevo al gusto synchronize ada milanesa ensalada who goes cafe but there's only one table in there so uh I'm gonna see if there's a slightly bigger restaurant let's head down here I have a suspicion there isn't gonna be very much nope just some old ruins hola buenas tardes donde esta el autobus estación poor dolores hidalgo don't know SCC autobús autobus grande quito no take your aspirin no sakura-san pero es para usted over by now he said the people of another loss Miguel you maggot my guess is okay Autobots San Miguel Dolores I see the ambience okay esta bien gracias okay adios I didn't understand hardly any of that I think she might have been saying that I need to get over to the main highway and from there then you catch a bus going from San Miguel to Dolores Hidalgo and there aren't really any buses that just go through this town so this will be kind of interesting I saw a taxi I thought that I saw a slightly bigger restaurant at one point let's see and so that up there is what I was thinking might be a actual restaurant with some nice seats with a little bit of a view up there we'll see what is restaurant a no don't a restaurant a ie glasses and so that is the one with the one table this is your fine dining in a total Milko or aqui esta bien yes gracias cerveza no no sir okay nada and here's their menu chilaquiles 45 pesos at his $2 huevos her gusto also $2 Hamburg Aces two bucks quesadillas 35 less than $2 maybe does and so there's a bus so that's kind of promising that if there's a bus going this way if there's a bus going that way to Dolores Hidalgo so we'll see Michaela for the Lewis with also autobus he does in Evelyn trumka hey Stella perova cincuenta uno cincuenta uno grande que si si si okay gracias muchas gracias all right we got huevos a llama he Connor eggs and beans and tortillas and so I came up with a plan for how to get to dolores hidalgo where I'm trying to go Dolores Hidalgo is that way I'm walking the other direction the reason is because it is a further distance to get over to the main highway the highway 51 which is over there if I go that way it is shorter going this way and also it is shaded as you can see that other road was just stay totally exposed wide-open road with no buildings or anything and I didn't feel comfortable walking down that especially in the heat and also just kind of you know being out there on that road walking by myself so I will walk back to the highway 51 and there hope that I can flag down a bus heading that way to Dolores Hidalgo huh so here's a bus let's see where he's going to us you know Dolores Hidalgo all right so I think that is the main highway right out there so not too bad of a walk now I've got a hope that I'm lucky with the buses because if there's no buses at all going from here they're definitely bus is going from San Miguel de Allende to Dolores Hidalgo but how often once every hour who knows I guess I hope you find it out so this will take a bus stop yep plus is going this way but damn there is nothing on the other side oh no I see your your Voyageur loris Mikado otra vez doing this both of us gracias okay I'm here I guess oh and I see a bus coming there it goes [Applause] there is a pulled out right here so maybe that's the spot but gonna be in the hot Sun for who knows how long and here you got the bus stop sign so that is great now how long will it take just talk for that girl and she's going to Sammy go there and they she didn't know about the bus stop down there so I told her about that I don't have the little shaded waiting area of it [Applause] all right hola dolores hidalgo [Applause] made it to the hotel I'm here for just one night and I'm going tomorrow to get a totally kisara conspiracy oh wow firing squad air Miguel Hidalgo who made the announcement starting the Mexican Revolution Gabrielle Morris booking.com booking.com yeah well not much of a view there but a nice quiet cool room here for about 30 bucks and so I'm going to take a little break here and then head out and explore the city a bit and we'll be here for just the one night and then taking me bus tomorrow to Kyoto taro and then I actually have a flight booked out of Mexico in just a few days find somewhere I really really stoked to see a completely new place for me so looking forward to that but more coming from Mexico Here I am going to make a separate video showing a bit more of the city of Dolores Hidalgo here Silla look for a link in the video or else down below in the comment section thanks for watching I hope you enjoyed this little taste of the real Mexico of course that is all the real Mexico but a very different scene from Cancun and Porto burrata and Playa del Carmen and Mazatlan and the various touristy spots so nice to get a taste of the other side of Mexico here all right take it easy more coming

Thumbs down for the music. We prefer no music please. Thanks!

Female DallasTx · July 29, 2019 at 12:31 pm

Videos without music is better for us viewers. 🙌🏼

Bethany Simmons · July 29, 2019 at 12:31 pm

Thank you so much for the videos you capture and share. Makes me feel like I'm there too. The real thing. Not some images of pretty, clean, perfect, and not reality.

Modesto Hernandez · July 29, 2019 at 12:31 pm

glady rose · July 29, 2019 at 12:31 pm

Thanks for showing something different at what everyone else shows.
Really enjoyed.

mando cruz · July 29, 2019 at 12:31 pm

I’m very surprised you didn’t get kidnapped or robbed as at times you couldn’t understand what the locals were trying to say to you and your accent is very gringo, guess must be a safe place

EzE Eze · July 29, 2019 at 12:31 pm

Interesting $30 for that very simple room. I’d have guessed way less in rural Mexico.

EzE Eze · July 29, 2019 at 12:31 pm

Nice work Gabe! Have you yet to consider a large protective sun hat, long sleeve shirts with UV protection?

Y A · July 29, 2019 at 12:31 pm

I actually once used google translate to talk with some one and it worked and google maps shows you where are the busses

Timothy Roper · July 29, 2019 at 12:31 pm

A surprisingly engaging video. Will Gabe get the bus? What happens if he doesn't? Will he have to go back to San Miguel Allende? I was genuinely invested in it.

Diego VaLeNcI · July 29, 2019 at 12:31 pm

Joshua Gantner · July 29, 2019 at 12:31 pm

I really enjoy your videos, Gabriel, but it would be pleasant for the locals if you say hi to people as you pass them. They are an intimate culture. Thanks for the videos. Always look forward to them.

Fab M · July 29, 2019 at 12:31 pm

One question for you: Why you did not go into the sanctuary? It is a World Heritage Site jointly with San Miguel. It's so spectacular inside that it has been nicknamed the "Sixtine Chapel of Mexico. It's a real shame you did not go inside.

Alexis Meredith · July 29, 2019 at 12:31 pm

Lovely picture quality I just purchased a go-pro hero 7. I will try it in Sorrento Italy 🇮🇹 to film Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius to see if there would be another cataclysmic eruption 😂

Jamila Hadade · July 29, 2019 at 12:31 pm

This is one spectacular video. You’re always making great 👍 videos for everyone to see. Stay well and thanks for your super video! Greetings from the “Big Apple 🍎 “
