You tuber complaining about random battles in an RPG!
Me: ok go off sis

Ronald Aguirre · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

And April 11 2019 the switch exclusive ended https://www.pcgamesn.com/octopath-traveler/pc-release-date

Vincent M · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

I got like 32 hours in and still a shit load to do

Absepsem · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

The combat is extremely fun to me , the graphics are just great , but the story is mediocre at best but still the game worth buying and it worth every penny

Eric Drell · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

As for the random battles, I chose Cyrus first whose first support ability makes it so you have a lower random battle encounter rate. It was a godsend when i just wanted to go from point A to point B but i found myself unequipping it when i wanted to grind for more experience.

Octopath primed our butt holes.. astral chain shall break them

Pvt. Prinny · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

Ive heard a lot of critique about the story but apparently the gameplay is awesome so i think i’ll get it

Jesus died for our sins · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

does anyone have a link to to thumb nail without his face on it

alez27 playsgames · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

It’s called octo path not one path ofc there’s going to be 8 different stories not tied together everyone needs to stfu about how they arnt tied together

Failpool · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

I was incredibly bored by the demo. Most fantasy RPG's are just not my thing. Except for Battle Chasers Nightwar. That game is great and gorgeous looking. You should try it and do a review maybe. 🙂

thesoultheory · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

The best way to play this is with the Voice Acting off. You can do it via the Miscellaneous menu, then settings, then move the voice bar all the way to zero.

PerryMcCall18 · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

Hang on, I still have a few chapter 4 stories left before I give you my thoughts on the game! Pretty sure you have a good thousand comments about the game, but I wouldn't mind giving you my 2 cents on it as well!

Debries · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

Are you seriously advocating a culture of console exclusive titles? Really?
As much as I love the switch and want it to succeed, that's just a load of BS…

KinnArchimedes · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

Haven't played enough JRPGs to know if I just hate the genre or not, BUT this game felt clunky, clunky interface, clunky unnecessary steps for simple actions, boring combat with unnecessary random encounters and grind…. Got a feeling people say the game is so long is only because of the GRIND. 100 hours gameplay, of which 70-80% is unnecessary grind and padding.

Paff 44 · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

All the stories tie together when th–

Its a spoiler, im sorry

Yuki Hyo · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

it's funny your comment on random encounters, i always see it as just hey, more stuff to kill more levels more exp more ease of killing to make more ease of levels a nice cycle, lol, in my opinion anyways

galaxy games · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

Your awesome

r0conscious · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

I really want to love this game, but it's too repetitive to me personally, I feel like there are never any big, interesting surprises or changes in the story or in the battle system, I'm kind of sad 😔

Mike Butters · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

I wouldnt say octopath shines in gameplay. Tbh the battles are really slow and enemys just have inflated hp pools for no reason

AA JK · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

Why is IT good If it is Switch only?

owlflame · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

For the visuals, I wish they'd tone down the blur. It always feels like they're teasing you with a great background but you never get it. Fantastic poijnt is the end of Tressa's opening. At the end you get a pan of the super blurry ocean and I was waiting for the blur to fade to see the ocean in its entirety…. but you never get it

appleipodtouch2g · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

I hope it goes multiplat. Its an awesome game and i’d consider buying it twice at a discount to see it in 4k on my One X

Soul Intent · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

The visuals definitely pulled me into this game. I saw clips of it in a video discussing the switch, and the uploader didnt mention the game. Just showed it. I HAD to figure out what game it was and learn more. I bought the game and it was definitely worth it. The story seems like it will be good, and the gameplay is great.

DragonBallAxel · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

The whole thing with the characters not being involved in any of the stories besides their own (for the most part ) sadly makes me not want to get it. Seems I want an overarching story with all th characters involved, not 8 seperate stories with a dialogue box between a few of them every now and then. Not really enough for me unfortunately.

Jayden Hamilton · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

Arlo. If all the characters interacted with eachother, it wouldn't be all these 8 stories, it would just be one story, so there wouldn't be a lot of replay value.

Redstone Potter · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

What happened? When are you going to officially review this?

anthares96 · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

i don't like the idea of turn-based combat. that's the only thing preventing me from getting it

Flying Toaster · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

Bought it. Enjoying it a bit. DEFINITELY not worth the money and would avoid buying it full price if I knew I wouldn't get more enjoyment out of it than I did during the demo.

Madelyn B · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

Should I still try even if I don’t usually like turn based rpgs

Degenerate S · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

FUCK THE SECRET FINAL BOSS

xuimod · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

I like Octopath traveler but developers don't need it to succeed to convince them to develop for the Switch.

The Switch installed base is over 20 million after just 1 year. That huge and growing installed base is enough incentive for developers to make games for the Switch.

Dreaded Tactician · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

Just trust me here. If you complete sidequests. There is a deep lore that connects all of the travelers.

Joshua Pettis · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

Personally the voice acting is one of my favorite aspects of the game, sure it's overshadowed when you look at the combat system or the masterfully pieced together music, but to me it just added a layer I really enjoyed.

bremer1701 · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

I started the Demo, played for 5 Minutes was bored and turned it off.
But i still was interested in the game and a few days ago i had the feeling that i need to own it. Bought it and hell is it amazing. Sunk 12
hours in just a little more then one day

The Gameing room · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

playing the game while watching the review into about 50 hours and still trying to finish all the main story quest amazing game one of my favorite on the switch its worth the time

Patrick McKowen · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

Golden Sun! Golden Suuuuun!!!

Beans The bean · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

@arlo they couldn’t make the characters speak together in chapter one as they don’t know what characters you’ll have in your party, but by chapter two they constantly interact, don’t worry

Freezeburn 98 · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

i like the battle system and the story is good but i think the characters are generic and the story was predictable (yes a story can be great and predictable at the same time) my least favorite part of the game is the transition from chapter 1 to chapter 2 because they expect you to be at level 20 but the average person makes it there at level 12 so theres a lot of grinding there

Nikki B · May 31, 2019 at 6:30 am

Sure the game has problems with its protagonists interacting, and the random encounters gets old after a bit, but these things barely make a dent in my overall opinion of Octopath Traveler. It is, hands-down, my favourite game on the switch to date. I’m a sucker for art styles like this one and lord knows how much I love RPGs. Its such a solid example of the genre and its so beautiful in practically every conceivable way. Thank you Square for providing the goods x
