Lower cost Destination Travel Trailer RV! Like a house inside!

Published by Darron Toy on

so hey guys I am still out here at Tarrytown RV in Grand Rapids Michigan they have such a big assortment of RVs it's absolutely a candy shop for someone like me who loves to film these things they have so many models that I filmed before like this Sandpiper as you recall I recently filmed this floorplan in Corpus Christi so you walk into this one you can see it's all lit up Lighting's on they can run the air conditioner the fan works great I mean it's just a much better environment if you're gonna walk around and look at trailers simply because you have access to all the power everything you need to turn them on to get them going so you can really experience what its gonna be like once it's all connected and I really love that so yeah you probably remember this was the Sandpiper that I filmed in corporate this is the 384 QB ok as that rear bunkhouse one thing I didn't show in that video is the kitchen area outside a really nice kitchen area maybe a better view of it plus it has this little swing around barbecue pit that you can bring around to the side so you have the ability to cook clean refrigerate and microwave whatever you need back here very cool and I love the fact that they're now putting a drop frame on these so Sandpiper used to not offer drop frame expand the floor would protrude up about 10 inches right here and you would lose a lot of your interior storage but now because it has a drop frame you have so much more storage on the inside of it which is really nice absolutely a big fan of drop frames anyways guys hang tight so you can see the unit we're looking at today you may remember I did a video on this huge Salem Village rant that thing is massive it's a two-story destination travel trailer I mean how much cooler can you get than that that being said that's outside of a lot of people's budget and some people don't need the upper bunk house so I wanted to show something that's kind of similar but a different floor plan at a much lower price point so this Salem Village Classic is also a destination trailer this one actually has the price on it though this one has a thirty 1988 dollar sales price off of the forty six thousand dollar MSRP now what's nice about this is it's a less expensive than that other unit but it still has a really cool interior it's still gonna be upwards of eleven thousand two hundred pounds gross vehicle weight rating but again much lower price point I still recommend a dually if you're gonna tow something like this because it is still very long tall and heavy well let's take a look inside of this unit so this is a three five three F lfb so as you walk up this unit you'll see that this is a front living room setup they put two really nice recliners here massive windows all the way around nice sofa loveseat right here as well as a standard dinette area so this has a very residential feel to it plus it has a very nice peak ceiling area in here which gives it even more of that cabin feel nice sliding door up front fireplace room for your TV has a nice residential refrigerator a lot of countertop space that you would expect in maybe a cabin but you're getting it inside of this destination trailer tons of cabinetry and storage lots of storage plus you're going to have a fully ducted AC system here going back you'll see the master bathroom in here nice foot flush toilet of course huge shower stall area nice vanity countertops lot of room and a lot of room for your toiletries as well I like the light tone floor and the dark tones for the wood going back into the master area you can see this isn't a full extension slide it's about a two and a half foot deep slide but it still gives you a lot of room back here this is a queen-size bed you can opt for a king-size bed as well at the end of the bed you can see you have a lot of room here plus you have a tremendous amount of closet storage in here as well which is really nice plenty of room on each side of the bed to get on as well which is something a lot of trailers don't have it does have a vent back here which you can probably opt for a second AC unit as well and your thermostat is actually back here in the master bedroom which is really nice plus you have a master bedroom dedicated entrance and exit so taking a closer look this one rides on a 10-inch eye beam frame incandescent lights this thing really isn't designed to be on the road a lot really when you get something like this again you generally have a piece of property that you're gonna park it at and kind of leave it there this is great for full timers who have a permanent residence at an RV park or just don't move it around very much you have a really nice long awning over in this section your connections are back here you also have your 50 amp connection back here plus you have access to the storage area underneath your bed and one thing you have to love about these destination travel trailers is the sheer number of large windows you get that's one thing you do have to be cautious with when you're towing one of these is because these windows are facing the front which means if you're slinging rocks or anything like that you do have a higher risk of possibly breaking the windows so taking a look at the numbers this has an eleven thousand four hundred and ninety pound gross vehicle weight rating with a twenty six hundred and fifty six pound cargo capacity this specific destination unit in my opinion one ton one-ton dually or even something larger simply because of the massive length weight and height you're definitely going to want the most stable platform towing something like this or any of these destination units because they're not designed to be moved around a lot you can travel with them they are definitely a travel trailer design but what you're really going to want to keep in mind is that they're designed to be set up at an RV park or at a campground or at a piece of property and it's left there they do have tanks they do have the ability to be drained and dumped if you need to but these are just really really great units and their portable cabins they're designed well and again guys these are really great for couples especially if you have a family and you need to bring multiple kids with you or you're a couple and you just want a really nice portable cabin guys I will put more information in the description of this video if you want to visit Terry towns website where they can provide you more details and pricing on these units they have a huge assortment of them here and really almost any floorplan you could ask for if you haven't had a chance please take a moment subscribe to my channel give me a thumbs up and we'll talk to you again very soon

What is it with this really dark brown interior wood ? I have seen campers that have lighter accents and it gives such a relaxing feeling . I think this dark brown gives off the appearance of a Gothic museum and it's depressing !!!

Why not put those big windows in the back…..

Steve Knepper · July 26, 2019 at 3:39 pm

JD, you're sounding a bit tired, especially during the intro. I think you've spent to much time there! Thank you for sharing.

But how are these on insulation?

Dave Vollhardt · July 26, 2019 at 3:39 pm

You need to do a meet and greet with your Michigan fans

sammolloy1 · July 26, 2019 at 3:39 pm

These used to be called “park models”. As a wilderness campground it would be broken into.

deby chrisman · July 26, 2019 at 3:39 pm

bathroom, dumb place for a duct vent. who would want that.

David McConnell · July 26, 2019 at 3:39 pm

:-)) :-))

kira sussane · July 26, 2019 at 3:39 pm

How much this would cost?
Would love to buy one in the future.

Given the house market I would prefer to live in a RV .

Rskitalll · July 26, 2019 at 3:39 pm

Wife won't take him back. Couldn't buy the F150 just had to buy the F450….

Recently subed love the channel! Great quality vids. I live in central Indiana so I see a ton of r.v.'s, most are built 1 to 2 hours north of us. Looking to get into r.v.ing someday. Could you do more reviews on Jayco as I think they are one of the better higher quality manufacturers. We are a family of 5 so I love bunkhouse models. Thanks for your effort in doing these videos.

This is the kind of video I’ve been waiting for. It’s finally nice to see one as it would look with power. The lighting alone shows just how more comfortable they are as opposed to touring a poorly lit one on a hot day. Thanks!

You might want to WARN people about that type of uneven pieced exterior siding, looks a bit like corrugated roofing or siding. The side seams are damn near impossible to seal, the leak in heavy rain. If used as a destination trailer, it could work. However I’ve travelled with one and we passed through some heavy rain on our way to the lake. Mattresses were soaked, couch was partially soaked, water everywhere inside, in the cabinets, under storage was soaked so even the kids sleeping bags were wet. And if it’s stick built trailer, getting the wood wet behind the walls is a potential disaster.

We just bought the Destination Grand Lodge 43foot, it has a upstairs loft for 3, my kids love it

dre04mach · July 26, 2019 at 3:39 pm

I only wish these had massive holding tanks (say 200+ gallons) so that you can leave them in the middle of nowhere for an entire season and just go up every weekend after work…

Joshua Contreras · July 26, 2019 at 3:39 pm

This is nice! With kids, I would have to do the 2 story one

gonzo 39 · July 26, 2019 at 3:39 pm

You moving in? I mean you can move to a new one every night and they'll never find you…lol!
Very sharp campers there.

chelle roberson · July 26, 2019 at 3:39 pm

What no w/d connection ?

Tim F · July 26, 2019 at 3:39 pm

Nice unit, not my cup of tea.

Austin P · July 26, 2019 at 3:39 pm

Nice trailer.

It’s not an RV (NOT everything that’s on wheels and are capable of being able to live in are RVs (which is a RECREATIONAL VEHICLE meaning you DRIVE it.

This is a DESTINATION trailer

A TRAVEL trailer is a bumper pull

A FIFTH WHEEL is something that goes in the back of a pickup

An RV (RECREATIONAL VEHICLE) is something you DRIVE

WHY can’t ANYONE put that through their head?

Michael J Render · July 26, 2019 at 3:39 pm

Looks cheap to me

ED ABRAMS · July 26, 2019 at 3:39 pm

Thanks for the great review— not that I’m interested in a trailer like that but you make it very interesting

Doves Damage · July 26, 2019 at 3:39 pm

That second entrance could totally have a washer dryer unit in a closet instead

Znobyrd · July 26, 2019 at 3:39 pm

Like that part, it's a towable trailer, but, "Just don't move it around a lot."

Richard West · July 26, 2019 at 3:39 pm

Nice RV. Thanks for sharing JD.

Kirill Borovets · July 26, 2019 at 3:39 pm

…but can I tow it with my half ton?

NBA Fanatic · July 26, 2019 at 3:39 pm

I just got the hitch set up on my New Chevy Colorado, got me thinking about getting this one beautiful interior on the camper and a great price! Thank you for sharing

NatureRecycleFlorida · July 26, 2019 at 3:39 pm

f150 is the only tow rig for these units

Michael B · July 26, 2019 at 3:39 pm

For a destination unit, I would want a place for a washer and dryer. Otherwise, it is nice for the price. Thank you for all your hard work in making these videos!

Tina Gallagher · July 26, 2019 at 3:39 pm

I'm considering a park model or destination RV when I buy a small property.

Samuel M · July 26, 2019 at 3:39 pm

May I ask what you do for a living?

Andy Smith · July 26, 2019 at 3:39 pm
