JUGS JUGS JUGS! || Poland – Russia Road-trip day 2

Published by Darron Toy on

hello guys welcome to the official first day of the Russian roadtrip it's what we're going to call it from now on I think it's the easiest thing for those who don't know what's going on I'm doing a road trip with my dad starting in Warsaw we're going to Russia and we're coming back ending in Gdansk but then obviously flying out of Warsaw so we're doing that sort of little loop thing about two days in each major city along the way and then about three days in st. Petersburg the aim of this trip was to see the white knights it's not some sort of Guardian protector of something racial but rather the Knights like in the sky night like when the moon's supposed to be art and the Sun is actually art we spent the night in this place Mugi but Bulova 17 we are just gonna have some breakfast this morning we've got some cucumbers but a two centimeter spring onions some peppers cheese's working at a home James works and sausages in there might have a sausage all right we just packed up the car and I figured before we set off let me introduce you to everyone you got me slice of bread my dad the saw noble steed Cleo but I've decided to name her Betsy because Betsy is the name of a cow yes and as you said yesterday those car drives like my that's not the biggest fan it's a diesel so it doesn't just have that kind of we've got some interesting cloud formations yeah it looks like there's almost like a whole front or a belt of higher clouds and then some of these smaller cumulus ones at the bottom yeah I'm very interesting you see that look at this guy Oh as beautiful as me it's fluffy cotton wool made little puts up in the town of good you can see it on that thing there Cora chin I have no idea how to pronounce it it's also on that building and when you're gonna pop into this little shop here a grow Shack because my dad's want to get a little cake or tart or something no no luck of the cake front mmm Oh tired man was having a little leg stretch my dad's having a cigarette there is a little story that goes all the way around here that hold on my dad just translated it for me basically this lady right here is the strawberry princess and this town of quartz in that Korean so the town of Korean was very gray and whatever and there was no happiness and this and that and there was a king Oh is he the king of strawberries oh he's yeah so the king of strawberry sent his daughter the princess of strawberries and she came to the Market Square which is this bit here and she started handing out the fruit so he has the strawberries right here the people of the town realized that every time they ate a strawberry they got happy and that it brought colors back into their life and so the people of coated chin started planting strawberries and that's how this town got its world-famous strawberries yeah and whenever people want to be happy then they come to the marketplace to eat the world famous for Dutch in true scoff key Korean yeah strawberry was a word that I knew which is Troost Kafka or Chris Caffery one of the two or both well it is this different one is singular once plural one is little who knows I feel like now we have to get some strawberries though from here dad we must find some because they're world-famous they bring happiness little petrol stop oh well technically it's a diesel stuff because we're gonna get that D I'm tired there's no cell phone sir I'm gonna just do the thing I'm cool yeah yeah oh Jesus Christ that gave me a fright but for the first time ever I got it to also click hey guys second click this is three clicks max so we'll do two clicks and I'll call it a day I could teach you guys a thing or two you see that little hole at the bottom of this thing so when that hole feels liquid on it it causes it to auto stop because then it knows that the diesel the fuel has gotten up to a maximum point and that's the safety mechanism that they put in place so for those interested here we've got the price this is 40 which is the Polish currency per decimeter cubed which is coincidentally a liter I think that makes sense to me it should be we filled up with 34 for 177 swarthy which is I don't know I believe the exchange rate is that one euro gets you about four and a half thought they just over four so you guys do the maths now the little pit stop here with old matey chef at the pig on a plate and also to power me which is exactly what my dad saying I'm gonna have a little espresso more as they say in Berlin okay more Chrysler fly yeah I'm flying badly I'm actually a fan of espresso Beth focus pay attention you guys can have a look so that's where we stopped there which is zero only only horn horn here we go crossing into the dev score pública Res Publica for lunch today we have the leftovers from last night little more ham and cheese sambar and pork and cheese on there we stopped in a little race stop e that's the sign for East stop e not sure what they call them in Lithuania let me go I'm gonna have a look at the sign over here if anyone can make anything of this then there you go we jeepers I have zero idea where we are we headed to Vilnius which is I don't know I can't even I don't um with our sandwiches little bit healthy having some salad which consists of as you can see there or Gorky and Pomodoro Pomodoro which is tomorrow but these you just don't get they they're basically like pickles but they're just they don't make them anywhere else like they do here just so good so you can buy them fresh and then pickle them yourself or you can buy them in jars like pickled with chilies and other things and all sorts of flavors I just would have them definitely taking some back to France no no no Sam's not gonna like them so that's great because they don't have them all to myself eating my wrong decided to do a bit of exploring come along on this dodgy little path where people definitely get murdered in movies don't check what it leads to do dum dum da dum da dum da dum da da beautiful actually that's a picture let me go get my camera there we go Vilnius the is at the capital of Lithuania there we go the capital of Lithuania we are currently entering the region and we're gonna go straight to our hotels we just dropped our car off at the hotel and we're just having a little walk around the city because the rooms not ready for us yet it'll be ready in like 40 minutes just staying close and local but we've already learnt what thank you what hello is which is Bob you have a Dale no and we're gonna figure out soon I'm sure what thank you and good bye off but so far very European popped into the church that's beautiful decorations and and all that stuff looks like it's quite old but most churches are empty especially in Europe see if I can find out how old it couldn't quite find any sort of foundation stone or anything but I'm assuming that maybe that 90 there is the second half of a something 90 so let's go with 1890 why nots because for this to have been built in 1990 very unlikely so it's either 1890 1790 60 90 probably stop this a little sculpture yard free entrance let's have a look huh do you think they just moved them all or something yeah well that's cool in there though there's someone in there only go in there I haven't been to many sculpture yards and I don't want to discredit any artists but I'm pretty sure these are just rocks I hope no one's taking credit listen there's a little scary and I don't understand oh but there's people here okay let's go have a look this might be a gallery but these lights off can cool I like that some of them are warm and some of them are cool this one so this place a Contemporary Art Center that's what it is I just took some photos of these lights so there's some sculptures and stuff behind you but then there's also these paintings or artworks my dad says he likes this one because it's him watching the stock market I like this a lot of us is really cool that's really really cool let's give you guys some details as you are Kagoshima alright the 2:11 ladies that you could just see at the top of the stairs there and we directed us around kind of what they just told us where to start they also taught us now what thank you is that I'm sure actually I thought it not appropriate to make a choice right there but I mean I feel like you all know the joke I'm gonna make so yeah thank you in Lithuanian is a true hashtag grow to Iranian cuisine I might not be a hashtag but it's worth a shot they do have beer taps here as well so excuse the loud music but now is our first ever installment of the beer tasting beer review with slice of matte and slice of Papa okay yes tell me what you think [Applause] you're my delightful that is nice that's good so this is the victorious it's it's the extra due respect extra very good give it a 9 out of 10 so we're back at the hotel this is our place you bolita I don't know I said it's a three-star you guys ready for your room tour here we go we've got bed window bed another bed don't know why there's three beds oh we can sublet quite nice that's the church that we went to do this big one here looks like there's plenty of other churches Bing Bing Bing and then bathroom perfect just what we needed I just had I just had an amazing nap like drool coming down the side it was it was great we are now heading out for dinner we are going to a restaurant that I'm gonna incorrectly pronounce but it's there Mike is my shoe Jimmy Choo shorties you know what I'll just put the name up on the screen for you and we're going there because entrepreneurs it as cheap prices local cuisine but a hidden gem that was the most important review that we saw the people that left the good review had actually been to the other two highly reviewed restaurants entrepreneurs the best looking forward to some traditional Lithuanian cuisine should be good they do a similar thing to pierogi which is a Polish food but we'll see how it goes for those who aren't living in Europe and aren't used to stuff like the Sun being that high off the horizon at what's the time this is the Paris time so it's an hour behind quarter past eight that's mad hang but that's gonna be nothing compared to st. Petersburg that what time does the Sun set in st. Petersburg two hours two hours difference between sunset and sunrise I've got a shitless lift here check it out hot-air balloons there's a whole bunch more I thought there was just three or four yes billions here we are we found it is mi true esatas sure my true wish mi true yeah that's why I said it's got a bear on a jug on a coat of arms doesn't get much better than this and I was told that there's jugs hanging from everywhere I think this is what the person was talking about it's just jugs area smells so good it smells good there so this is what I'm talking about when I was saying that this disciplines right the Zeppelin's are the Lithuanian sort of version of pierogi greater potato dumpling served it whatever and you can choose and they say quite big so I think my dad and I going to share one we'll find out which one but you'll see also Zeppelin it'll be like the what was the name of the Hindenburg a Zeppelin like azaleas so it's a shaped like the like a Zeppelin that's why I think they're good crashed they did crash yeah well we'll see if things crash of the fly we've ordered two glasses of dry white yeah Alania but Oaks seen it fantastic thank you that's you so the way that we have vodka with meals if you guys have watched my Christmas vlogs you will know that we wait for the food you don't just knock that back straight away and but that does mean that it's time to taste our beers here's the name just because I'm gonna I'm not gonna try say it but it's a light lager beer okay I'll try say that's Cherise was sounds well right she beats us all right she is was the old sniffing taste smells good oh that's nicer I should prefer that today's lunch beer so a food arrived and to give you an idea that's the size of my hand and as it arrived my dad was like no we wanted to share one portion and he said no this is one portion I've split it for you that's like yeah absolutely massive this basically a potato dumpling we've got a little pork mince and then there's bacon and stuff on top it's really good that's thorough and the total is 20 euros only 20 years we've got the soft food here six euros here two by two euro fifty to five euros and the vodka nine euros it's a Miss check proportion there absolutely I just want to show you guys actually how many jugs they have yeah my dad said he spoke to the waiter and they actually have 3,500 jugs see you've got this whole room here all these jugs on all the beans on this unit this whole room here this room here – this is where we were something we're sitting over there we'll definitely recommend the table good lighting for Instagram for this and then you've got a couple extra here as off this place with a little bit of marketing effort could definitely get more foot traffic if they probably change their name to jugs chugs jugs so you might you might chew let me at you Jimmy I'm Amy Roscher Jimmy ah-choo I thought this would definitely recommend as you can see here it's Pekka Mohammed above all over by trip it's a very very good food we are off to bed amazing first day first night in Lithuania Vilnius we're gonna be here for at least one more night we'll decide as we go but tomorrow we're gonna do with the brochure we're gonna do this top one here you've got a pause and read there you're more than welcome but we're gonna do the free old town tour that's our plan for tomorrow check it in for another slice of Matt goodnight dad yes so there we go that's all be versed you with mashed potatoes and a tomato I've ever eaten beaver before probably like a rat come on this chick

Auris LA stabdis · July 27, 2019 at 12:23 pm

To be fair after leaving "Žemaičių ąsotis" (which btw means Žemaičių – Name of the region, Ąsotis – Jug) you were the one closer to saying right before your dad corrected you. 😀

Watched both of your videos in Lithuania and they were great.

P.S Literally every foreigner so far reacted to our "thank you" same as you did because it DOES sound like sneezing.

wollywotsit · July 27, 2019 at 12:23 pm

Julian Srb · July 27, 2019 at 12:23 pm

Great Vidéo!! ✌🏻

xtreamchance · July 27, 2019 at 12:23 pm

HA! "looks like a rat..probably tastes like chicken!" Traveling with your dad seems like a good rational way at looking at dining…spending twice as much on alcohol as you do food. My, those dumplings were the size of Giant Hedge Hogs! So much starch! Holy Moley, how you didn't go straight into a food coma, I don't know. But then maybe having Vodka with black pepper would help? I love the pickles! It's always a favorite of mine. The crunchy kind are the best.

Talisson Mendes · July 27, 2019 at 12:23 pm

I'm so glad to see you back or… me back to your channel… I dont't know what happened but I just didn't get your notification. Hope to see more of this road trip series! ^^ Welcome back!

Generic Jones · July 27, 2019 at 12:23 pm

I did a trip like this from my home town of Salisbury all the way to St. Petersburg a few years ago, and it's so exciting to see you hitting some of the same stops I did. You even tried the cepelinai… so much better than they look!!

Vik Cebergs #greatsouthernoverland · July 27, 2019 at 12:23 pm

Great trip so far Matt. Ive travelled a couple of time with my dad, through Latvia where he was born. They are some of the best times we have had. Your Papa rocks fella:D

Karin Wegner · July 27, 2019 at 12:23 pm

My dad is from Poland (well it used to be a part of Germany then / Pommern) and he‘s got that kind of humor too. Don’t even know how to describe it, but it’s definitely special…🤪 I‘m so excited about this series, hope your adventures will be funny. 👍✌️👊

Nubianette · July 27, 2019 at 12:23 pm

I like the beer reviews! I’d be jealous, but I already had a couple. Plus, I’ve had the Hefeweizen (Baltas) from Švyturys while I was in Copenhagen. My friend, the bar manager is from Lithuania. Yeah, not the best beer.

Paul Madden · July 27, 2019 at 12:23 pm

I think Dad’s going to be the star of these videos. Also surely these is going to be a compilation video of Matt’s pronunciation corrections. 👍🏻

mcbrucie · July 27, 2019 at 12:23 pm

Have you been shooting much with your film camera? I remember you got a Canon AE-1 a while ago or one of those models

MrDavidKirk Photography · July 27, 2019 at 12:23 pm

Your Dad is a riot. Where you got your sense of humour. Three beds, you can sublet. Funny. Then the beaver tastes like chicken. Hilarious.
