How My Trips To Brazil Changed My Life – A Gringo's Journey

Published by Darron Toy on

if you were to tell me a few years ago that all this was gonna happen I'm gonna go to Brazil I'm gonna meet a amazing community I'm gonna do videos with some of the biggest youtubers in that entire country and also meet the love of my life in Brazil I would have told you to Goff and called you a madman because there's no way I would have predicted everything that's happened I wanted to make this video for a while but I figured you know getting some time to think after my second trip to Brazil was going to help me put my ideas better together and by the end of this video I want to just tell you guys the one thing I realized that changed my life in the last few months first things first I was in back in Canada change the background a little bit we're gonna do the food reviews and all these kind of free foods in this blue room now second of all another change in my life probably a lot more important than a blue wall and letting you set up is this on my finger this is a Brazilian promise ring I've asked my girlfriend to have one of these I put one on her finger hopefully she's wearing it right now on my second trip to Brazil was our one-year anniversary and yeah I've never felt this way about anyone before so think about this I'm a Chinese guy who was born in China but family emigrated to Canada when I was eight upon almost finishing University I decided hey I'm gonna move as soon as I graduate to Vancouver again there's another distance away for my parents then through my experiences here running a business doing YouTube and then meeting the only nose I will meet the most beautiful woman in the world in Brazil you know love works in weird ways and I hope a couple of years from now on not gonna look back on this video and be like Oh what will happen when you meet somebody that you feel so connected with you feel so comfortable around without even we had a feeling when we first started talking like it was just a easy way to relate to people conversations were great relatively similar life experiences prior to studying sociology and a bit of HR I was actually working towards going to med school she's studying to be a doctor I grew up playing she's actually a performer and we're gonna get her on the channel eventually niels has first exclusive of revealing her in a video she's already you already seen her face if you guys follow me on social media and she just makes me want to be a better man and I think the most important part about this journey was finding someone like that knowing that hey I could have these feelings I could be in love prior to meeting her I was stuck in a bit of a rut I wasn't a very confident wasn't very good at talking women oh what a loss of date and never really had that connection with anyone and through this journey in Brazil if I found out that my values were mismatched of a lot of people in my city and in my country Brazilians generally value family generally value at least in relationships as much honesty as possible and expression of love whereas in Vancouver if you express love you're the opera person you're almost like committing a crime sometimes because everyone wants to take it slow everyone's be super free and some things like that what just you know is admirable but it's not really a good way to they want to start a family of a build a strong relationship and I feel like some of the times I felt so disconnected with a dating scene was because my Chinese culture aside will have an emphasis on family and had emphasis on building and working on things whereas a lot of the North American Western ways are to you know what trial never keep going until you find the perfect one and it's not to say that you know all relationships are perfect and trying to resolve course not but those who want to work at it and if both parties won't work at it you're always gonna have a better luck of doing that and trying our best to play the lottery and find the perfect person the second part of what I realized is you know this part is a little bit easier to express like I love food and Brazil has amazing food South America just seems so much more naturally dangerous in terms of like organisms and other living creatures in the north we have obviously the issue of the freezing cold bears potentially you wolves right but in South America you know like he's in Brazil I hear legends of well maybe not legends actual stories of pigs attacking people like wild boars class I can kill you got worms I can kill you insects that definitely can kill you fish that eats and yet people somehow have survived and became still the apex predator in South America the North it was like okay how do we survive the weather how do I have weapons to fight against few predators in the north and then in the South is like oh yeah there's way more diversity you know in terms of the larger things that can kill you and then somehow people have time to make sauces out of basically frag grenades no those guys don't know what this is and you haven't watched how to shop recently we brought back a perky sauce quickie is a savory and bitter a slightly bitter fruit that's kind of like very popular in goiás a very popular in your eyes and this is the part why I kind of like realized and we're gonna talk about people of Brazil in a second but people are fascinating people are so weird this is a fruit that doesn't have any like notable taste that you will expect people to usually like eating so because the part about this fruit is if you bite into the core in the center not only does it not taste good but there are actually little spikes that pop out and stab you in your palate and your tongue and whatever it makes contact with so these are tiny little bitter grenades that taste like you know as some people would say taste like almost like feet I learned to like this taste but I'm just curious which hero which god bit into it got spikes on their teeth making bad taco a listen I know I got spiked I know it doesn't look good but check is that if we just buy around around the fruit there's this really weird taste we should boil this make a softer and just eat it and someday in the future some Chinese guy who lives in Canada it's gonna come down to Brazil buy it in a bottle bring it back feed it to to his two of his Brazilian friends not living in his city in Canada I think the description for that video this is the peak of humanity just open my mind in the sense that the humans are can we we're the weirdest creatures on earth I feel like you find something like you know you know creature would like look like a duck but crawls like a mall rat platypus yeah platypus if you see a platypus you're like oh that thing's kind of weird what does it do no they look at humans we're so soft so soft you can take the buffest human in the gorilla goes on him and rips him in half but this curiosity this brain that we have this capacity to learn results on something completely ridiculous like a pequi sauce currently in Canada and that comes out to the third thing that led to this realization I had about Brazil so whether twice and one of my favorite things in my life right now is occasionally having somebody who recognizes me not because if they recognize me just because of the fact that I've actually had a positive impact on someone's life it makes me want to make more videos and if I were to have any job besides the one I have right now I'll probably try to be a full-time youtuber seeing all these beautiful faces seeing all these wonderful people it really made me even though they're telling me that the content made them happy I think them telling me the content made them happy makes me happier than they were watching the content it's a beautiful cycle of not only entertaining you guys hopefully but also like creating conversations and obviously creating positivity that eventually will lead to something else better where are these supplements what's going on people's lives certainly I felt inspired meeting people in Brazil my first bgs it was nuts I didn't realize like they don't know since like hey you might need security walk around otherwise you really start taking pictures for four hours like I don't worry about it went to buy pastels and for about 30 minutes I was stuck walking step by step back to the Bibi TV booth turns out you can't even walk 50 meters what about seeing smiling faces and there's no way I want to send no to anybody who approached me beat you guys the thing is I wasn't I'm not even that big of a youtuber I'm just a guy who you know are friends with Leonin else and I didn't see myself ever as somebody who's worth that kind of time but as I'm interacting with people as I'm talking to people from all over Brazil I just see so many you know there's there's kids who you know like this is so important to them to have this experience and yet you know you can see like all these I work really hard to get there and I understand the country is going through some turmoil right now politically with masses divided and there's a lot of economic imbalance from my perspective what really inspired me was still seeing people trying very hard the people who didn't give up the people who are still struggling today and it just makes me realize how lucky I am that I am born to a wonderful family I had a great education amazing friends growing up and now I'm expanding my family in Brazil as well you realize how lucky you are and you realize just how important time is the biggest realization I had during this journey the last time I went to Brazil was understanding that time is the most valuable and should be the most treasured resource that we all have just think about it how many picky like things have people done across the world right here Oh in Africa Australia all these places I haven't been to you realize you were only here for a finite amount of time I'm lucky to be in Canada where I don't have to worry about the bureaucracy not actually working I just have to worry about it being slower from what I've heard from Brazil like there's so much that people are not sure if the sky's gonna fall no more the grounds on the crap under their feet and for those of us who have the opportunity or have the ability to have a stable life we got a value that time not everyone's that lucky we gotta take you back to that time and live the best life possible and at the same time try and help those who are not as well off as we are with this knowledge I recently I started working out a lot more I started trying to learn new things read a bit more work a little harder that's my career and also want to make more videos and you know just talk to you guys a little bit more I'm not promising any great content yet but what I want to do is ultimately say thank you to everybody I've met to everybody who's been on this incredible journey it's made me a better person I hope you guys enjoy this video just a little bit more of a sentimental video try throw some humor in there for you guys just so you you gonna be like Oh Jeff is gonna be all sappy ish if you are new to the channel thank you for watching do a bunch of silly videos and sometimes we do some series of videos like but yeah we would like to have fun here Abel a little fishing if you can leave a comment what do you think maybe let me know some of the videos that you want to see me do or you know if you want to chime in on the three things I talked about or the value of time let me know and yeah I thank you guys keep on why why are you gonna phone here this is a little white spot here because the wood is wearing off and I don't know why I was like you know what's cover this is more for me than for you guys okay or if a phone company want a sponsor you can put it here

Jeff, in the end, that's what's life is about: learning and trying to make the world a better place. We are never aware of our impact in the life of others. Be sure you (with your seemingly tiny little influence) is making the lives of thousands of people lighter. And that's a BIG deal.

Thank you for your YouTube content. We absolutely love it!!!
