Global vacation club and RCI Nightmare and Fraud

Published by Darron Toy on

this is my bad experience with the timeshare industry here in California in June 2010 right before my 64th birthday that it was in July 2010 I received this happy birthday card that it looked just like this where they were telling me that I would be getting two round-trips any place in the United States plus five days of the rental car also in the United States and that the only thing that I will have to pay will be $37 for tax purposes for the whole packet and I will have to attend a 90 minute presentation unfortunately I did call that number and I set up an appointment and they set me up for July 10 2010 at 1:00 p.m. to attend that meeting when I got to the meeting I found out they were having a celebration the office was full of balloons they had a lot of older men with white shirts and a tie receiving us and then I had to check in at the counter on the front office and the company logo was this one the one that is global exchange a vacation club and then the points are powered by our star I see anyway they put us in a room where we had the presentation the 90 minute presentation after the presentation I asked for my price and I was told that I needed it to go and sit in a table it was a round table with one man there and he was going to explain to me what the time sharing was all about at that time I explained it to them that I was not interested however he told me that in order for me to win the two tickets and the rental car I had to listen to his presentation now so I sat with him for a while and he explained it to me and then when I asked for how much it was all this then he told me I needed to talk to somebody else again I told him I wasn't interested and another man came to the table anyway called Mohammed at this point I had about four of those other guys with the white shirts and that I just wandering around my table so I will not be able to leave Muhammad came and explained it to me everything all over again and then he gave me the price every time I told him I wasn't interested in purchasing anything because that was not the reason why it was there then he will throw another gift to me and then he will lower the price eventually I was there for so many hours that eventually I signed for it and I'm very sorry about that by the time I left I had put a down payment of 10% and I had a balance of about $7,000 that they requested a credit card for me which he was denied it was giving only five thousand so therefore they told me not to worry about it that they were going to finance the $7000 um after that I walk out of there and then they gave me more prices so I walked out of there with the two round-trip tickets the car rental for five days a trip to Las Vegas with an $80.00 bhauja for any show that I would like to see and a cruise for two to either the Caribbean or Ensenada in here in Mexico um they um they put the 10% in my credit card and then they needed it to do automatic deposit for the payment that I will be doing for five years that it was about 168 a month I did not carry checks with me because I do my payments online and I told him that I had that setup in my personal computer and I did not know the password so they put me anyway in a room with this another man and then they gave me a computer and they put me there to try to remember my password I wasn't in that office for about an hour and finally I got in contact with the Bank of America and I managed to get my account number and allow them to set up my payments online automatically so after that um I remember I was told that I would have to pay yearly some maintenance – or cleaning maintenance tools every year and that they will be picking up the bill for the first year so I would have to start paying on the second year I and then I went home I went home probably about about 6:00 6:30 p.m. in the afternoon I have been there since one o'clock until 6:30 p.m. on that was on the 10th and I believe it was a Sunday by Friday the 16th which was my birth date then I was driving to my son's house to have dinner with him when I received a call in my car from Las Vegas people telling me that I needed to give them the credit card so they can church $99 to my gift and when I will go and juice the facility then they would give me a reimbursement I explained it to the lady that I was driving and I could not give my credit card to anybody in class that day was a gift therefore it was free and that I would not give anything she became very rude and he told me to stop immediately and give her my credit card number which I told her I would not do then after that she continued calling and calling my number but I could see it in my in my car so I did not respond she must have called me about 20 times that Saturday the 11th I went to global exchange Vacation Club office in San Dimas California and I asked for Mohammed he took me a while they did not want to connect me with him so finally he came out to speak to me I explained it what he had happened to me and I told him at that time I wanted it to cancel everything because I didn't think it was right the way I was treated he told me not to worry about a paladin in my shoulder and told me go home I could take care of it and I would tell them not to charge you anything until you are ready to do the trip then at the meeting I was told that I needed it to mail immediately the voucher for the airplane tickets on the rental car but they didn't know no money was needed until I will make a decision when I wanted it to take the trip because I had a year to do so so as they told me I sent it I scented it certified mail and a couple of days later I got them back that they were voided because I did not submitted any now the payment had increased to 140 something for the gift even when I was told it was going to be $37 and the gift was not like they were asking me for the money they it was removed it was avoided I no longer had that gift so I went back again to the global exchange Vacation Club office and I told a Muhammad that what had happened to me he told me not to worry about it that he will be talking to somebody and named Mohammed I mean name morale and that he will be every issue and everything for me I went home again then in about September I get a bill for the maintenance fee for 2011 however they were due in October 2010 which I did not understand so there I went back again to talk to Mohammed and I told him I did want Eddie to get out of this and every time I went there he never explained it to me that it was a procedure for me to cancel the contract that I only had seven days he made it seemed like he you know that I had to give them an opportunity for them to become clean with me and that I had to wait anyway so um that was that so at this point I had no airplane tickets no car rental and no Vegas trip then I tried to schedule my cruise with the cruise line so I called him and I was thinking to take my older granddaughter which was 17 at the time with me and then I would be paying for the two little ones when was 11 the other one was 9 so when I called them and they asked me how old my granddaughter was and I said she was 17 they told me she did not qualify that she needed to be over 18 because my price was for two adults so I say okay well I will be taking my daughter-in-law than with me and since my son is overseas and then I will pay for the three little ones and when I tried to find out how much it was they told me that the 17th in a qualified for the child right because she was older than 12 so it was no qualification for her but she needed it to pay an adult ticket at that point I was pretty much done with them so I decided to cancel my automatic payment and I stopped paying they had been suing me they had hired a collection agency now to go after me in my credit report they had not reported it once but twice so they have reported as themselves actually as a fake name and then also as the collection agency number so I used to show in my credit card twice but I managed to go and correct that so that is my story with the timeshare nightmare I'm planning to fight till the end I don't know what else I will do but I'm going to just not give them any money Thanks

The question one has to ask oneself is . . . ."Why would someone I don't know give me a FREE trip?" "WHY?"

Smug Smugly · May 15, 2019 at 3:56 pm

All Time shares are rip off. Nothing new about that. You let the tail wag the dog.

Don´t Stay, Don´t Pay

I was
surprised to see that WYND (Wyndham Destinations) has 6 buy and 7 hold
recommendations out of a total of 13 stock analysts.

It is in
fact strange that the NYSE listed companies WH (Wyndham Hotels & Resorts)
and WYND (Wyndham Destinations) still uses the name WYNDHAM. They are hotel
operators. But they have dumped their properties to a number of Vacation Clubs.

I made the
mistake of becoming a member of Club Wyndham Access. It cost me 58379 usd
(sic). The staff used a hard sell technique during 8 hours and I finally gave
up. Afterwards you are left with lies and promises – that are not kept. While
the staff disappears and e-mail to their addresses bounce back…

When you
google on search words like “Wyndham Scams” a flood of dissatisfied people tell
their sorry tales. Whistleblowers, who reveal the Wyndham unethical selling
technique, have to be paid 20 million usd. The vacations offered and promised
are seldom available and extremely expensive.

I wanted to
go to Sri Lanka. Wyndham Club and subsidiary RCI have only 5 places on Sri
Lanka (but nothing was available when I was there).

The Club
Wyndham currency is called points. A Club Wyndham member like me get 400000
points every year (as a sort of interest on the 58379 down payment).

Instead, if
I invest and get a 5 % interest/dividend on my down payment of 58379 usd, it will
give me circa 2919 usd/year.

And the
Condo maintenance costs for my Wyndham Club membership cost 2632 usd/year. (I
have stopped paying it).

These 5551
usd will give me and other Club-members a maximum of 27 days of vacation in Sri
Lanka. (It cost us 15000 points/night)

I used
hotel booking site Booking.com instead. They had more than 10000 items to
choose from on Sri Lanka. They were mostly close to beach, clean,
air-conditioned and with private toilet and bath etc. I paid circa 25
usd/night.

This way I could
stay on Sri Lanka much longer and in fact get 222 hotel-nights and save the
58379 usd for myself. But Wyndham Club never told me about it so I wasted 58379
usd.

I believe
that most people scammed by Wyndham like myself don’t use their services any more.
And don’t want to stay in their hotels and their 20 assorted hotel chains. I
certainly won’t.  This badwill will hurt
WYND and WHs stock market performance.
Remember, WYND has a negative booked value of  – 6.04
usd/share. It is in fact technically bankrupt

Went to one of the presentations yesterday with my husband yes they make everything sound so good but you can tell that they are lying about the whole thing when we refused the offer they insisted that they will drop the prices and give 2 complimentary trips one to Hawaii and another here in FL. The sales lady that was assigned to us since the beginning would say that she herself has it and that she has used it multiple times and every time she would say this she would break eye contact and start to hyperventilate a bit which was a sure sign that she was lying. Walking in we had already did a bit of research about this whole scam so we knew what was happening. Don't take the bait it's all lies. Walking out of the there there were some sales guys outside smoking and we over heard them saying "did you see how easy that was all i had to say was that they get $1,000 on us and they get a trip at that very moment." It was actually kind of sad that they do this but there is so many people who are so gullible and they take advantage. DON'T DO IT.

Kathy Sanchez · May 15, 2019 at 3:56 pm

Don't do it, it is a scam . Been trying to schedule a vacation for 2 years now. Always being told " nothing is available " and when we finely find something much smaller then we want there is all kinds of fees, but yet we had enough points.
Then when I tried to cancel out, it took 3 weeks to talk to this Mark person who never returned any of my calls . And when I finely got him on the phone He was very rude and would actually whistle everytime I tried to ask a question..
And he talked to me like I was stupid and told me we didn't do it right, or talk to the right people. Had to make him look up my contract to prove him wrong. No apology just him trying to convince me to try other destination for better luck. Lol this place is a joke and a scam…

KathyDale SanchezHobel · May 15, 2019 at 3:56 pm

don't do it….. all lies. we have been trying to use our points for 2 years now and on top of the cost, maintenance fees and TLC fees you also have to pay fees to book. IF THEY HAVE ANYTHING IN THE AREA YOU WANT . GETTING OUT OF IT, UNFORTUNATELY WE LOST LOTS OF MONEY AS WELL.. BOY DID THEY SEE US COMING..

POOR LADY TELL THEM TO F OFF

Joseph L. Mancini · May 15, 2019 at 3:56 pm

I have been to about 20 time share presentations in my 20 plus years of living in Florida. I sat through their 90 minutes of crap. I keep an eye on the clock. Every time, I stop the presenter and remind him/her of the time. I then decline to purchase that tomb share, yes, tomb share, and I ask for my free gift. I do so in a very stern voice and manner. They get the hint and give me my gift and I leave. I have received money, restaurant gift cards and one time I received a exercise bike. I throw away all of the "Free Trip" crap.
So bottom line, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER buy a tomb share. If you want to call it a "Time Share" go ahead. It is a "Tomb Shaare"

Brad Reinke · May 15, 2019 at 3:56 pm

There needs to be a class action lawsuit against companies like this and Westgate (same stuff) because they suck so many ppl into their trap…. these people should be in jail, not winning cases to sue ppl. bz of their bs contract.

Ok…This is for all of you falling for the free trips. You complain about the sales pitch. Then you complain about the free gift of travel. News flash! The free trip costs money. It's called taxes. Travel.amd leisure is taxed at a higher rate and there are fees for air, hotel and car. So that 3 day getaway with air, hotel and car would retail around 2 thousand or more for 2. So yes, expect taxes. But still cheaper than full retail. That being said, don't cry wolf because you are solely looking to score a free trip and end up getting sold. That's not how life works. Be an adult. Realize nothing in life is free. Not even death is free. Boo hoo.

It sounds like you were sold on there plan. Bought it and went home felling excited. Then you realize that you can't afford it. Now it's to late. You signed and now it's a binding contract. I'm sorry. I have been to there presentations. I think it's a good plan if you can afford it. If you can't afford you need to stay away from the free trips. There is nothing free in this world. If your promised a free cruise don't be ignorant. Stay away. Nothing's free. Common sense it goes a long way.

we did that rci at las vages. got 2 tickets to see a awesome show ($500 worth free). We had to listen for 2 hours to a fake sales bitch. "dont bullshit a bullshiter". at the end they tried making us sign pappers. i showed him the scam callcutaions intraste rates and etc, why you guys dont have name tags, wheres your license, why you guys cant contact overseas and final i showed him same rates you get online as RCI gets so why bother if you can do it yourself. They ended up giving us the two tickets for free and all we had to do was lisen to them talk shit and prove to them how much a scam it was haha. They do give you the gift but what ever you do not sign any pappers.

4:02 I never would use someone' else computer because in the back ground without you knowing it they had a program in-which is recording all your personal information and they make money off your information. As a matter of fact they make more money off your personal information than they make off you and everyone in the room whether they purchased the program or not. Plus I believe that they made you sign a contract that if you stop payment then they can sue you and I never fall for those scams. You are right these low riding cutthroats deserve to burn in Hell.

joseph garcia · May 15, 2019 at 3:56 pm

Wow I just got back from one of there rci presentations. And I'm really glad I didn't sign with them it was really tempting to do so but me and the wife stood strong and kept saying No to them. One of the big reason why we said no was every year we had to pay money for the trip we were going on, which good time share you don't have to. You just pay for it own it , then pay your yearly fees.
And get to go on your vacations.

So I wish you all the luck with them, and I'm really going to be pissed off when they scam me out of the Hawaii tickets they promised me . I do hope I get to go !

michele miller · May 15, 2019 at 3:56 pm

Sundance vacations tried to scam me today. They said all I have to do is come to a seminar in monroeville mall. At the seminars they refused to take no for answer so we simply walked out. With no free trip that they promised us in the first place.

The latest scam in this year 2015 is happening in the Palm Beach Club Tenerife Playa de las Americas; Silverpoint together are stealing timeshare owners right to timeshare in their apartments and then selling them off to make money.  Silverpoint are in deep financial difficulty and are, as many people are saying, committing fraud and theft from owners who have the legal and perpetual right to use their apartments for designated week(s) in the year in perpetuity. Some people would say the best way to deal with this lot is to avoid them like the plague. Court action is now being taken against them in the courts.

november 2013, i received a vacation invite from GLOBAL VACATIONS NETWORK.  My wife and i went to the meeting in Independence,Ohio and stayed 4 hours..I signed up for there products. That nite the sales lady stated she would be our personal agent and handle all my travel needs. So, the next day i called her, and asked her to help me with a trip to Chicago May 2014.  She stated she had nothing to do with planning trips, just signing people up .She didnt even remember who i was.I was so disappointed. I EMAILED MY CANCELLATION TO THE ONLY EMAIL ADDRESS I HAD..I called but received a message that they only worked monday thru friday, 5 pm to 10 pm.3 weeks later i finally talked to someone and was informed that cancellations were handled by NANCY IN KANSAS.I called NANCY and she informed me i had 3 days to cancell and she had not received my email.I SENT AGAIN TO HER BUT ONLY RECEIVED A MESSAGE THAT"the email was undeliverable" or that they would try 3 times to get a reply..I  started receiving collection letters from FLORIDA.GLOBAL IS NOW ON MY CREDIT REPORTS, CLAIMING A DELINQUENT BALANCE..They claim i have a contract and it CAN'T BE CANCELLED, since they did not receive the cancellation in 3 days.I faxed a copy of the cancellation to them but they want honor the cancellation..ITS VERY OBVIOUS THIS IS A SCAM COMPANY AND THEY ARE BENT ON DESTROYING MY CREDIT HISTORY/SCORE..I HAVE READ COMPLAINTS FROM 2008 TO NOW, ABOUT THEIR SALES TACTICS,THEIR NONE DELIVERY OF PROMISES,TAKING PEOPLES MONEY AND GIVING NOTHING IN RETURN..THIS COMPANY IS SO IRRITATING AND I HOPE SOMEONE STARTS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AND SHUT THEM DOWN SOON..INCLUDE ME([email protected])01/26/2014..

My mother-in-law invited my wife and I on a trip with her to the Bahamas c/o RCI with the understanding that we would have to go to one of these presentations. We went, but what was suppose to be a 2 hour presentation turned out to be a 5 1/2 hour bully session of which my mother-in-law stood her ground. I'm not sure she would have but she had my wife, myself and her niece to back her up. It is a crime that RCI becomes so ruthless! My mother-in-law is retired and cannot afford it.

they prey on people that have money to throw around…the sales tactics don't work on people without money because they think month to month… rich people are like oohh well, good investment i'll get something back…. that's the whole entire scam

joe b · May 15, 2019 at 3:56 pm

anytime u go to something that's soppose to be a prize and they max out ur credit card before you leave… that should be a red flag…. I learned about timeshare when I was 25… I said I didn't wanna hear anymore after I heard 20,000 a year to rent a room for 1 week… I said I can just rent a hotel and the best hotel for at least 3,000 a week… they knew I was too smart and got me the fuck outta there, and tried the next sucker
