The first shot on Motor Ave was great. Years ago I lived down the street at 2883 Motor Ave.

Great posting! This was my neighborhood for 11 years. Still charmingly semi-rural area of Los Angeles. Used to be called Edendale — and the Keystone Kops went on many a wild ride up and down these steep streets too.

The early Stooge shorts, when they did location filming. As their budgets shrank they were limited to studio filming, then to re-using sets from other Columbia movies that were either in production or recently completed, finally to reusing whole clips from their earlier shorts.

Awesome video! I go to LA every other weekend to find new Stooges locations (I have the book too). I just took my wife to the Larchmont Bungelow at 107 Larchmont where the Stooges hopscotch in Pop Goes the Easel.

ev dallas · May 29, 2017 at 7:01 pm

they made quite a mess in that intersection

Great job, as always! I enjoy your work, it's fascinating to see what these locations look like today, 82 years later. I always love to see the areas that still look close to the same after all these years! Thank you! πŸ™‚

I really thought that steep street with the barrels rolling was in San Francisco!! lol Looks a lot like it with all the hilly streets! Great job!

Marlene Ansley · October 3, 2017 at 3:09 pm

Amazing those power line poles are still there. Would have thought those would be replaced by now.

Barek Halfhand · September 24, 2018 at 8:11 pm

I wonder if there are any wooden barrels of Panther beer still in existence?

Billy Caffrey · February 22, 2019 at 1:13 am

Excellent Chris. The golf scenes from this film were shot at Rancho Park Golf Club which can be seen in your first scene on Pico with the netting up. I've played there a couple times and often wondered where exactly those scenes were filmed. Thanks!

Robert Fullmer · March 3, 2019 at 11:37 pm

Very interesting. Next time I'm in LA, I've got to go to those spots! I absolutely adore the Three Stooges!!
