It's okay to miss out on Cafe Central, it is overrun by tourists and ruins the atmosphere. It is better to go to smaller ones, there are tons of them anyways.

Simon Kaggwa Njala · July 27, 2019 at 9:16 am

The "Frittaten" in your soup are not bread but basically sliced pancakes, but without the sugar part.

FoodToursVienna · July 27, 2019 at 9:16 am

TxicQarma · July 27, 2019 at 9:16 am

Naryma · July 27, 2019 at 9:16 am

First I would like to say I like the style of the vid, you seem very natural in front of the camera and keep the vids coming!
1:30 Cafe Central has developed into a tourist trap in the last years. Look at the line, hardly any locals there. There are coffee houses all over the city, many of them specializied in a specific clientel -> Central 4ex was the historical coffee house sociopolitical and philosophical discussions (rather progressive). There is no such thing as "the" coffee house.
2:40 Around here you use "Prost" for wine and "Gesundheit" for beer. The first comes from he latin word Prosit which was used by such during their toasts of spiced wine. The latter derives from a "wish for good health" which was used in the Czechian and Bayuvaric regions for toasts – therefore usually with beer.
2:52 Emmentaler comes from the Emmen Valley in Switzerland. The lemon is supposed to be served with fried meats (like Wiener Schnitzel) not cheese and the rasberry is supposed to go with red meats.
3:03 There are several veg options on the menu ( I looked it up), an entire section – among others Eiernockeln, traditional Austrian noodles.
4:31 If you want a place in Vienna known for their Tafelspitz try Plachutta.
5:30 The white suace is a chive cream sauce.
8:10 Melange is double coffee + milk + shot of water + milk foam (whipped cream is acceptable). Its not strong^^ If you want a that ask for a "turkish".
9:13 To be precise its stewed plums or compote.

Especially in Vienna you get fantastic dishes made from innards. I love it!
I'm so amused you thought the horseradish was cheese! 🙂

Daniel Zsidek · July 27, 2019 at 9:16 am

Austria is just not a place for vegetarians and muslims. Pork FTW

Don_Kaudron 41 · July 27, 2019 at 9:16 am

It looked like it wasn't cranberry sauce served with the Apfelschmarrn, but elder berries.
Also, you should make a trip to other locations in Austria and try the typical foods of the regions. There's so much more to explore here 🙂

Vinzenz Richter · July 27, 2019 at 9:16 am

Usually the "white sauce" is just some sour cream sauce with chives. That's how it is in the traditional recipe 🙂

Dannysubliminal · July 27, 2019 at 9:16 am

Austrian food sucks,
and lacks so much variety, especially the tradition places.

denise teitelbaum · July 27, 2019 at 9:16 am

Make sure to take your very American man bites LOL 😁

I regularly watch Youtube Travel Vlogs and I have travelled for most of my 66 years. I won't be watching your videos any longer. Why?

Your inability to do the base research of what to eat and where astounds me. That, coupled with your negative reactions to local food traditions drives me away from your videos.

So you went to a tourist trap cafe and refused to wait in line. BFD. I know you have technology with you and Google translate actually works. Open your minds to new foods and customs.

I wish you best of luck in your travels but why don't you spend a day when it's raining watching talented vloggers like Mark Wiens or the Food Ranger to see how passion can drive great video. Watching you try to explain boiled beef and your faces was hilariously unintelligent.

Andi 423 · July 27, 2019 at 9:16 am

Thomas Anderson · July 27, 2019 at 9:16 am

02:40 "Krugel beer" Haha for an Austrian that sounds so funny (no
offense). What you are drinking here is "average" Austrian standard beer
"Gösser", it's good but nothing special at all. Back to the "Krugel
beer" …It's called "Krügerl" and this has nothing to do with the beer
itself, it's just the word for the size of the beer, Krügerl = 0,5
liters, Seiterl for example does mean 0,33 liters. Those are the common
sizes served in Austria.

PS: One tip…there are way more beautiful places in Austria than
Vienna. If you are interested for great and beautiful places or some
other informations please tell me. Greetings from Austria.
