Thanks for posting another timely and informational video Sebby. I CAN confirm that after speaking with an AMEX representative today, that they ARE eliminating the restaurant benefit for the priority pass beginning August 1st. My two thoughts are:
1) The CSR is something to consider(if they keep the restaurant perk), especially if you reside in an airport that doesn't include a lounge but does have a restaurant. Example is St Louis.
2) Hopefully as you eluded to before Sebby, AMEX is going to somehow make up for this loss in benefit. The representative I spoke to stated there was no immediate plan to make up for this loss in benefits…

I hope this relieves some of the overcrowding

Robert W · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

I have several PP cards. How do I see which one is the one tied to AMEX?

JuanSouth2010 · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

Will Amex reintroduce priority pass or create their own version with the green card rebranding?

Chee Tang · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

Thank you for your lighting speed update. I will be sharing your content to all my family and friends.

Zuggy The Chess God · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

Still don’t understand why anybody ever wanted Amex cards instead of CSR with a combo of other specialized spending / rotating category cards.

This just further makes Amex more pointless to own.

WTH?

Rome LJ · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

No impact

Love your content, but one suggestion. Adjust the framing of your videos so there isn't such a large gap above your head.

Drastic changes recently. I just got turned away from HK Centurion Lounge for attempting to enter more than 3 hours before departure time (my first attempt)…now this…What next?

skylinec83 · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

What’s the difference between priority pass and priority pass restaurant? I can google but I am that lazy

Danny Finocchiaro · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

Benefits are watered down every year. Totally frustrating. I’m sure that Chase will want to follow suit.

wannabe DAL-ADX · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

AMEX acquires Lounge Buddy and other networks and pulling back from Priority Pass, they are not playing the long game Sebby; They're in the Endgame!! AMEX: ENDGAME!!!!

1Drummer · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

Deft move on the part of American Express; Chase is put on notice; there is more to come. I have Priority Pass through my Hilton Honors Aspire card.

K dawg · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

This is BS. I have amex platinum 😭😭

xraydelta100 · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

Thanks for a good explanation.

jdcpr · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

Will be using the CSR. Need to label the priority pass cards to make sure I use the right one.

Pete Skeet · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

Damages…

Kevin Conway · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

Now that LAX finally got some decent PP lounges this is an even bigger deal to me.

Solomon Wong · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

Great video Sebby!

dynamitmsk · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

Was thinking about building AMEX trifecta, but as someone living close to BOS (no Centurion lounge, but decent non-lounge options) and not interested in holding more than one premium card it looks like I might be sticking with Chase.

Traveling-By-The-Sea · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

One of the best decisions I made in the credit card “game” was getting the Ritz card…. it really keeps getting better and better now that they have added a free night every year and rarely cut benefits

Ryan Field · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

This is the reason why when I do my break even analysis on a credit card with Priority Pass I value the perk at $0. I never know if I'll actually be able to use it. Even if you have a card that has the restaurant access, the restaurant may have a prohibitively long wait. Or a lounge may be "at capacity" as they claim.

This instance is a great example of why I err on the side of caution and am EXTREMELY conservative in my non objectively quantifiable value for perks.

thehsushoe · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

Amex *platinum keeps getting worse and worse.

OneNewHope · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

And I JUST got my Amex (like two weeks ago) specifically for this purpose… the airport I use doesn't have any priority pass lounges, but they do have a restaurant that takes the credit

L V · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

You should change the color of your logo, I thought it was an ad at first

Geni Gueiros · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

Great video, terrible news

robertbslee · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

Why are all the airports and lounges in USA worse than third world standard!
And WTF is up with US domestic Business Class it worse than Premium Economy in the rest of the world!

Nathan Lin · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

Keep keeping us woke Sebby! Great work! SMH at Amex

Dingming Zou · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

I mostly fly delta so this is not that big of deal… most of the SkyClub food are pretty solid IMO. Haven't go to a PP lounge in the past two years, neither restaurants…Centurion lounges and SkyClub works for me

troyperez76 · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

Was going to downgrade my AMEX Platinum this year anyways but great information.

Pollo05 · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

What about Priority Pass Lounges?? Would those still covered or also gone?

Agent_WestCoast A · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

I'll still keep my Amex Platinum due to hotel benefits, but it just lost some serious value to me. However, free breakfast at Hilton hotels still keeps the card valuable.

Jose Garcia · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

Amex is trash. So restrictive with what they allow you to do with their points and the 200 dollar Uber credit is nonsense. For a nice 550$ annual fee. CSR is the best. The points are not as restrictive and are valued more

Manuel Hernandez · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

Do you know if the one in Tampa, FL is affected by this change?

Jerald B · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

It’s not that big of a deal, all of the overdramatic responses 😂. I have yet to feel the need to frequent a restaurant in the PP portfolio. The headline made it almost sound like ALL of PP was going away…but hey, that may have been by design 😉😂

Snapp D · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

For those of us with multiple priority pass cards, is there a way Way to tell which card to different issuers?

Logan Scott · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

Never used the restaurant perk, seems like a non issue but people in the comments are riled up.

Abraham Gomez · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

Is there a way to get the Ritz Carlton card in May 2019?

kalmtraveler · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

still have the Ritz card for unrestricted Priority Pass. My only two premium cards right now are the Ritz and Amex Platinum but they both cover different functions for me so no changed planned thus far.

Hakan Yuksel · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

Can you use multiple priority passes at one lounge?

Michael Garza · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

I flown a few times this past year, I couldn't fathom showing up to the airport just to drink free alcohol before the flight.

happydarksoul · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

I wonder if this will apply to Australian issued platinum cards. Wife and I have a month long holiday in the USA come Sept/Oct this year, no Amex Lounges in several of the cities we will be visiting. $250AU fee increase last year to $1450AU, reduction of points earning in April this year, and now with the removal of PP benefits (if it will apply to AU cards), the card is rapidly losing its lustre.

RV Crazy · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

Instead of signing my priority pass cards I just write down what card they are from.

arjun · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

Hey Seby,
Boingo benefit was removed from Amex platinum.

Justin LoPilato · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

Ate at Stephanie's at Boston Logan and right after I "paid" I saw that 😥

Eddy Perez · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm

Would love to use csr priority pass but just downgraded to csp. Wonder if I could upgrade back again

E S · May 30, 2019 at 8:58 pm
