Too many comments on eyelashes but that is if no concern to me. Your tips were simple but very valuable especially for those who don't travel often. Thank you very much.

What about the ice??? Did it make you sick like in Cancun???

Mitch Waskewitch · July 28, 2019 at 8:20 am

You need to just get to the point instead of telling every detail of your trip, very helpful though.

great video Sandra. I've traveled the caribbean and mexico many times. Its solid advice to use the safe and stay at resort area. Also, if you can don't drive at night and hit the clubs in the main town area. That where the drug dealers come out to sale to tourists. I want to go to Punta Cana DR in july and was looking at the Presidential Suites.. Any advice out there? Thanks and please don't take my comments wrong.

Ooookay, so as a person who not only is Dominican but has also traveled to countless hotels in Punta Cana (and the rest of the DR) countless times I feel the need to go over these tips.
1) DO know what you're paying for. I agree with Sandra here, it never hurts to be aware of what you are getting.
2) It's the tropics. It is obviously going to be humid. Dress appropriately aka no hoodie, long sleeves, polyester fabric clothing. Believe me, you won't be cold at any point of your trip. Please don't let humidity and heat get in the way of having the most wonderful time. Prepare. Prepare for the heat and you will be fine.
3) By all means, use the safe if you want to store your passport and expensive items there. While I have never had to travel to these hotels with my passport, I have left jewelry and important/valuable items around my room and I have never had any problems nor have I heard about friends/family ever having problems like Sandra described here. Use common sense, use the safe if it makes you feel safe but why on earth would you deny yourself the pleasure of going back to your room after a day full of sun, sweat, salt, drinks, activities, to a dirty room YOU will have to clean despite paying for the service of professionals who will do it for you? The ladies there do a wonderful job and they are extremely professional at it too.
4) Most resorts are the same. You need to make reservations in order to go to the restaurants. If you don't want to make a reservation just have regular buffet dinner (which is provided for all meals 3 times a day).
5) Mostly what Sandra says. You don't have to tip. In fact, I think it is actually forbidden? or something like that but people still do it 😛 I have never had to, but I have been super friendly back to them and thanked every single person I interacted with. You'll soon see that Dominicans are super friendly people and it is easy to get a smile out of us.
6) Yes. Book tours from the HOTEL.
7) Take advantage of everything. Take pictures if you want to.
8) Yes to the backpack with a water bottle, sunscreen, and repellent. It's the tropics.

Check other people's comments on this video for a more informed decision regarding Sandra's tips 🙂

Thanks for the tips and I will use them. Sidenote: I noticed your dog in the background -probably wondering who you’re talking to. 😂

Lmfao @ her #1 “tip” ….. like…. yeah dumbass that’s traveling 101….

Sweating/humidity in an island country?!? Like omg how crazy right?! Good thing you warned us about it.

Ps: you made sure wifi was available, you probably didn’t pay for it, but the poor soul at the reception desk sensed your inner Karen coming out and didn’t want to deal with your shit so they just gave you the code.
