My main take with this is when you get to the Dais before the checkpoint is how many people don't have their ID out with their ticket! UGH, there is times I want to scream!

MissMBA · July 30, 2019 at 10:37 am

Issue with water bottle is that you’re not always allowed to even bring an empty bottle through security because of the 100ml regulations. To get around that I tend to not bring anything larger than 100ml of anything, including empty bottles, so I just buy myself a bottle of water or other beverage after security check and then if I finish my water or whatever it is, I can always refill it, and if nothing else I have something to drink on the flight in between the flight attendants drink rounds.

I always get to an airport very early before a flight, both to know I am on time, and because I actually enjoy the environment and like to look around in the various shops and just sit by the gate looking at airplanes and people, and it also gives me plenty of time to find my way around at the airport so I don’t feel lost in case of a change of gate or something. Nowadays I’m picked up by assistance when boarding approaches though, as I’m a wheelchair user and hence board first. But I tend to just ask for assistance to meet up at the gate as all I need is for someone to take my own wheelchair into the aircraft as I board.

I pack my carry on in such a way that it is easy to take out my laptop and my ziplock of any fluids and creams and ziplock of medicines at the security check, I also wear clothes that are comfy to wear and doesn’t require me to wear a belt (and that’s one thing less to worry about at security) and I choose shoes that are easy to take on and off both for the security check and because it’s more comfy to not wear shoes in-flight.

Upon boarding I also make sure to take out any items I know I’ll want to use early on during flight, so I don’t have to reach for the overhead compartment instantly. I put things like neck pillow and eye cover in the pouch on the seat in front of me, and medicines, passport, wallet and other valuables are in my purse that gets placed under the seat in front of me so I don’t leave it unattended.

I’m the kind of passenger who can sit through a 10-12 hour flight and only get up from my seat maybe 2-3 times to use the restroom or just move a tiny bit for safety reasons (DVT prevention) other than that I stay seated, with seatbelt on and mind my own business or sleep. I tend to drink tomato juice most of the time when asked if I want to have anything to drink, tomato juice is soothing and hydrating without making you go to toilet as much as water would.

It may sound like I’ve traveled a lot, but I actually haven’t. One trip between Sweden and USA, 3 trips between Sweden and Madeira, and I’ve been to China 3 times which was while living in Copenhagen. Other than that just a couple of times to England, once to Poland and once to Greece, and last time I was even at an airport was in 2015 🤷‍♀️It just doesn’t take much to get a little bit of routine and find ways to make any air travel smoother both for yourself and others

Delta Skyclub is $59 for people traveling on Delta codes flights with no credit cards. They won't sell it to you if they're full.

Angela Kuipers · July 30, 2019 at 10:37 am

Great tips Stella!!! Everyone should view this video before all trips as reminders. Most of the ones you mentioned I do when I travel. The one that I haven’t but will start to use is set you alarm 🚨 for boarding. What an awesome tip. ❤️

Manal Saeed · July 30, 2019 at 10:37 am

I would completely agree with you paying for lounges espicially if I have a very long destination.☺🤑🤑

scalare70 · July 30, 2019 at 10:37 am

Tip #1 is THE most importaint for me when i am travelling!! I haaaate being late, or arrive the airport late-ish. I arrive at least 2 hours before, do check in – and baggage drop-off straight away – then breeze through security, find a good spot to have something to eat/drink and just watch people (and of course update my facebook status lol) I dont travel that often, but i when i do, i make sure to make it a good experience.
Great tips from you Stella <3

I don’t do Insta-whatever – what’s going on with your marriage? There I said it. How can a vlog about a flight attendants life (or a pilot, or sea captain or fashion guru) not mention their relationships? Are you happy being alone in that dreary small NYC apartment? I don’t think you’re being very honest with your viewers. You’re avoiding discussing 95% of your life that impacts on your career? Who cares what you do in the women’s restroom at the airport or what the freak’n hotel room looks like? Your content has become useless fluff. I always thought you were better than that. I think a lot of folks would benefit from your being more open and honest.

imaPangolin · July 30, 2019 at 10:37 am

I’m an airline pilot and I didn’t know you could pay for lounge access!! Great tip.

Anna House · July 30, 2019 at 10:37 am

Thankyou Stella I am 13 and I am flying solo with aer Lingus and I am so scared now I will end up in Ireland and not somewhere else also can you make flying solo kids tips

Jonathan Phillips · July 30, 2019 at 10:37 am

The staff in the news outlets maybe nice, but they may also be out of a job if people just walk in and read stuff without paying. C'mon now, play fair, pay up.

James · July 30, 2019 at 10:37 am

This is coming from someone who works below wing aka ground crew…if gate agent asks people to check your carry on bag, DO IT!!!. Now obviously if you need your computer for work or passport in it then do it. Those planes many times have great bin space but are limited space available. Not only that, you may save a little time getting out of the plane. Remember your bag will be at your final destination waiting for you. Less stress hauling another bag around.

Michael Freeze · July 30, 2019 at 10:37 am

I'll have to go on vacation with you next time

Dash G · July 30, 2019 at 10:37 am

For me. My coming trip I am flying with my younger sister so both of us are not allowed to drive yet so our mum is taking us so we dont have to worry about how we get there.

Pia Michelle · July 30, 2019 at 10:37 am

I love traveling. I like packing even tho sometimes it’s a bit stressful but I love it, I love going to airports most off the time and just chilling, i love the idea of flying, I love getting to my destination. The worse thing about traveling tho is going home and that I hate flying, I get bad anxiety and claustrophobia on flights especially when there’s a lot of turbulence, and I can’t even fall asleep on planes. I’m also someone who cannot sit still for long periods of time and I usually fly international. But in the end I put up with it because I love traveling so much

Rigjina Simonaj · July 30, 2019 at 10:37 am

Why do we always have to take out all electronic stuff out of the bag?

Kelsey Nicole · July 30, 2019 at 10:37 am

I’m a flight attendant and I never fly without my reusable bottle!! I also always recommend wearing shoes that are easy to slip on/off and avoid wearing a belt altogether!

Sonia R · July 30, 2019 at 10:37 am

Great list! I’d add that flight crew love it when passengers bring them treats.

Steven S · July 30, 2019 at 10:37 am

I do get there early and usually park the car at an off-airport site that shuttles you to and from the airport (PHL), so there's no waiting when we return and pickup our checked bags. With TSA Pre-Check, I basically walk right through (after using the bathroom outside security). Yeah, I sit at the gate, but since I usually fly Southwest, I'm always an "A" seating. I love the idea of carrying an empty water flask — airports sell water for the price of your first born…

Christopher Jacob · July 30, 2019 at 10:37 am

Thanks for the lounge info! I didn't know that we can just pay to get into the lounge. I thought it was only for frequently flyers. How much to get in the lounge? Also thanks for all the tips you shared.

Jimmy c · July 30, 2019 at 10:37 am
